This is my story of my Journey to a new and healthy life.
It all started when I was about 8 years old, I wasn't over weight but I was tall for my age therefore considered a "BIG" girl so I always thought I was different from the other kids because I was bigger than all the other kids.  It wasn't till I started high school that I finally blended in, granted I was a Freshman and the size of most Seniors, but at least I wasn't the tallest kid in school anymore.
I went on through life, got married had children, with every pregnancy the weight gain varied and although I never gained more than 40 lbs I never could get back to where I was before I got pregnant.  The older I got the harder it was to lose weight, but as long as I kept up with my aerobic exercise and followed a weight watchers diet I could keep my weight down but then I started developing arthritis making it difficult to excercise as much so I cut back on my total daily caloric intake, but nothing worked I kept losing the battle and the weight came back more than ever.
I had this surgery to help lose weight so I could regain my health and prevent my body from becoming any more debilitated than it already is.  I have scoliosis, both Rheumatoid and Osteo Arthritis, fibromyalgia, atrial tachycardia and a veinal condition which causes swelling in my lower legs causing bleeding out in the tissues.  Since I seem to be following in my mom and grandma's footsteps I heard of this surgery and opted to have it to help prevent me from developing all the health problems I was destined to have if I couldnt get the weight off my heart and lungs, not to mention my knees, hips and back.
I am curently 10 days post op and I have already noticed a change in the stiffness caused by my arthritis, I have an increase of energy, I feel great under the circumstances, the first week post op was terrible, I'm not going to lie to you or surgar coat it, I had never experienced so much pain and I had limited mobility with my back due to the fusion of my spine so I needed help getting in and out of bed, turning over in bed, it hurt to lay on my side so I had to stay on my back, I was very uncomfortable for that first week, which seemed like a month, BUT then every day gets better, the worst is behind me and the best is yet to come.
I can finally say I am very happy I made this dicision and I look forward to losing weight, gaining a healthy body and having the energy to keep up with my husband and play with my grandchildren.
As things progress and I lose more weight I'll be writing more.  Until then, trust in the Lord and he will see you through. I'll be waiting for you on the losers bench!
