PURPLEPRINCESS
I have been overweight all my life. I do not even know what it would feel like to skinny . When I was in The eleventh grade my metabolism started to work and I got to the lowest weight I could ever remember weight 145. By the time I started college I was up to 165 and now almost 20 years later I am at the highest i have been in my life 382 lbs! My husband and I have multiple medical problems with my medical issues mostly being weight related. This last year with his cancer treatments, it has been so hard to take care of him and still work a full time job. So, last summer (2008) I finally went to a surgery seminar. I am usually told I am to big do things but this time I knew I should be able to qualify for this. But no! This particular group told me my BMI was to high and I would have to lose 100 lbs before they would even consider me for the surgery. I told them If I could lose a hundred pounds by myself why would I be here.
So I started working with my PCP trying to decrease my weight. Guess what? My cholesterol improved to under 200. My good cholesterol went up and my bad cholesterol went down so did my triglycerides. My Hgb A1c even improved which mean the insulin resistance syndrome was improving. But my weight stayed the same.So he decided to send me to an endocrinologist. I went to her and the first thing she ask me was have I thought about weight loss surgery. I have thought about it, research it, supported my sister, six cousins , and best friend through the surgery. But was denied by the surgical group. She told me to find another doctor willing to perform the surgery. So my search began.
I finally found a doctor that i feel comfortable with. I went to his meeting on Feb 4. I was even able to talk to him one on one. So now the process begins.
