 I am so proud of myself I'm doing great I walked 1 MILE  today.  I go for my follow up appointment tomorrow to see Judy stuck.  I'm still a little sore but not on any pain meds decided I'm at the point to where I can tolerate it now.  I haven't gone out to purchase a scale yet figured I would give it time. I just didn't want to get stuck on the scale thing I'm pretty much focused on getting off some of these meds.

UPDATE:  I finally had my surgery 8/14 everything went well as to be expected.  The only problem I had was with the hospital staff at Baptist they are very very lazy. I pretty much did everything for myself getting out of bed, unhooking my IV from the wall plugging it back up, I gave myself a shower alone the list goes on etc. the only thing I didn't do for myself was give meds.  The pain was excruciating I was literally in tears by the end of the night on day 2 my back was killing me. I asked the Dr. to discharge me so that I could go home being that I was caring for myself anyways, so I got home yesterday 9/16  only to realize that I left my pursue thanks to family they drove back to Columbia to get it. Keep in mind I also packed all my stuff up myself. If I had the help from the staff someone could've rechecked my room while I was still there to make sure that I packed everything. Dr. Prickett and Judy stuck checked on me daily to make sure I looked good my incision site looks awesome I was very pleased once I looked at them.
 

Once I got home I was so relieved I slept like a baby the back pains continued off and on but other than that I'm getting all my protein in as I should. Tomorrow I will go out walking for an hour just to start some type of exercise program until I heal completely enough to hit the gym.

Magnesium citrate the purple flavor I hate it I am so nauseated  I feel sick right now that is the most awful stuff to drink.  But I
know God will help me get through this.  I have one day left until surgery I feel so weak, I'm not sure if it's anxiety or

what? LOL all I know right now is I've waited so long for this and all I have to do now is show up.  

Update ... Just wanted to let everyone know I'm 2 weeks away from my surgery day. And I'm so excited it seems so unreal being that I've waited so long.

My pre op appointment was great the staff at weight management center is awesome so polite.  My wait time was like

5 minutes Dr. Prickett, Judy + staff can't leave them out their job positions  is very important. They answered all my

questions  believe you me I had plenty. LOL they just made me and my sisters so comfortable going over all the details. They gave me my orders  for the hosp. and changed some of my  meds to liquids. I've already registered at the

hospital the only thing I'm waiting on is my pre-surgical evaluation appointment from the hosp. I also have to be on a 2

 week Atkins diet and I'm not liking those Atkins shakes at all  but hey I've came to far to turn back now and I want

everything to go as smooth as possible.  It's very hard for me ex specially being that I had to stop drinking my sodas

the headaches were crazy. But I'm kinda adjusting now being that it's been a few days now. 

I'm only hoping now that I don't get sick or catch a cold before surgery my 3 kids aren't feeling well I'm thinking because 

of the weather change. I've been taking my vitamins for quite awhile now should I get the flu shot before surgery or after

surgery?  

UPDATE: I have a pre-op appointment August 28Th @ 10:30 I am so excited and nervous to finally get my chance to meet Dr. Prickett.  

On September 1st. I start my Atkins diet

On September 14Th.  is my big day I'm scheduled for RNY surgery.


The only thing I'm concerned with is the time of my surgery its scheduled for 12 noon most surgery's are usually scheduled early mornings. :)     

I called the insurance comp. yesterday just to make sure they had received  my paper.  Well they did :) they said that they had just gotten it and that it was processing. They said that I should be hearing something within 72 hrs.  

First thing I did this morning was to call Dr. Fechters office to make sure they fax over my clearance :) they assured me that they had already sent it. I was like well fax it again and I'm gonna call to make sure it gets to the right person today.  Well I called a few minutes ago to speak with Blanche and she told me that they got it and is in the process of sending  my paper work off to the insurance company. So now I'm waiting to get an appointment to see Judy and Dr.Prickett I'm hoping that it'll be as soon as one day next week or sooner.   

I was very excited to receive a call from Blanche this morning it's been a call I've been waiting for to get an appointment to
meet with Dr. prickett but instead she called needing my medical records from my PCP and to verify insurance. I thought to myself I'm getting closer well she told me she would call me back. An hour  later I received a call from Tina stating that they still haven't received my clearance from the pulmonary Dr. Carey fechter I was like what?  I know Damn well they sent my clearance I spoke with them last week and they said it would take 24 hours and assured me that they would fax it ASAP so I was like OK cool. I've been trying to get my clearance from this office  for several weeks now and still  nothing I'm so pissed. This office is so unorganized I had an appointment way back in May and no clearance yet . I wouldn't advise anyone to go there for a clearance if so just know you won't get it until several months later. Tina advised me to keep calling and to set fire to there a## because she has also spoken to them a few times. This is my only hold up Tina told me and they can't schedule an appointment with Dr. prickett until they get that. So now I'm at a stand still await my pulmonary clearance.

I went for my first consult on 5/4/09 at surgical associates in Columbia s.c. the staff was very polite and encouraging . Everything went according to plan I was weighed, I spoke with the nutritionist and was relieved when she told me that my insurance only required me to see her only once. Then the exercise therapist, after her then I had the pleasure to meet the Gastric bypass coordinator Judy stuck she was very open, honest and direct. This was a positive experience because you have so many people pulling for you trying to help in so many directions.

On 5/6/09 I had my physic evaluation at baptist hospital with Geoffrey Williams I was very nervous upon arriving but as I met Mr. Williams he was very polite made me felt welcome with his warm personality. 

On 5/7/09 I had to go back to surgical associates to take a ten question nutritionist test it wasn't so bad while there taking the test I also attended a relaxation session that was a first for me I almost fell asleep.

On 5/8/09 I went to Baptist for my lab work and to have an UGI done I knew the process was going way to smooth and that a problem would occur soon. LOL well once I got to baptist to register in I went to x-ray first they told me that I wasn't on there schedule so I'm like are you serious? so the lady explained that Judy didn't call to make an appointment for me but she decided to let me stay and add me as an add on and that it would be a few hours. I was relieved so I decided to go to the lab once I got there they told me I had to be NPO after midnight good thing I only had some crystal light so they decided to go ahead and draw I was again relieved. 

Now my journey is really about to begin I'm in the process now of  trying new protein shakes so far I like the Whey protein 
it tastes like chocolate milk I added milk to mines. Now all I have to do is sit back, be patient  and wait for the Dr. office to call me back  when they're about to submit my paper work to the insurance company (I think ).
