The Day After...

Jul 30, 2013

For the past month or so, I have been on a liquid diet. I had my upper GI done and my Esophogus had stretched out above my band.

Yesterday, I had my follow up upper GI done, then my appointment with my doctor's assistant, Alana. She said the films looked good and I was ready for my 1st fill of my 2nd attempt at this "diet". She gave me 3cc of saline. I had the 2 sips of water and they were stuck in my throat. She said if it was too tight, I should come back the following day.

When I got home, I felt ok. I started to feel a lump in my throat. Then I started feeling nauseous. I threw up. I threw up a LOT of clear liquid. As if I had 2 cups of water. I continued to throw up the entire day. I couldn't even have a sip of anything. I was even spitting up all of my saliva that I had swallowed. Nothing would go passed the band. I had also gotten my period yesterday, just my luck. I am not sure if bloating was a factor in my band being so tight. Normally, when I PMS, my band gets tighter, so I am hoping that was the cause.

It was a rough night. Spit up for a while. Finally was able to fall asleep. Woke up only a few times.

This morning I had some of a sugar free popsicle. Just to see if I could get something easy down. Not a straight-out drink or anything. I feel the tightness, but so far I am holding it down. We shall see what the day brings.

On a happier note, I am 19 lbs lighter!

Mental Prep

Jun 28, 2013

So, yesterday I had my Upper GI and my 1st Dr visit in about 5 years. The space above my band had stretched a bit. The liquid had to be removed from my band and I have to go on a liquid diet for 1 month. ONE MONTH! Oh boy...So instead of abruptly cutting out food, I looked into what I could have that I actually liked and bought a few things. I am a picky person. I gave myself today to try and wean off food for this diet. I ate a bit, but tried to keep it small.

Tomorrow is DAY 1. It is going to be like when I quit smoking. I warned my husband ahead of time..."I might get cranky". His response? "More than usual?" Of course he had to be sarcastic. lol

I take care of my children more than I do myself. This is going to be rough.
