07/31/08   BELIEVE IT OR NOT.   My First Appointment after 9 months from my RNY surgery day

Nine months took me to have an appointment with nutritionist and follow up with my RNY.  I had the surgery through Aetna but after surgery we got Kaiser insurance.  After nine months they decided to listen to me and gave me the appointment.  Well, of course I did not know what to eat all this time, I was having soups all the time due to the solid food I could not handle it.  But we are talking about nine months.  Anyways, they told me that all my test results were perfect . They gave me a list of what I am supposed to eat.  But I have to introduce little by little the solid food.  But, now that I am starting to eat some solid food.  I gain 4 pounds but I do not care because I know the scale it will change at any time.  They will make me an endoscopy to see the size of my pouch.  Well finally I am under supervision.

06/09/08  Gain two pounds in one night 

I got on panic yesterday.  I gain 2 pounds from one night to the next morning.  I will not let myself to gain weight back as before;  I decide for one week to go back to my protein shakes, anything else.   But, the good news is that two hours after I weight myself yesterday. I was on my normal weight as the night before.  But anyways,  I will be on shakes this week.  Oh yeah, I will not let myself to be as before.  I will let you know if it help me to go on shakes for a week. I want to get on the 160's.

05/14/08 

In the last couple of weeks I had been feeling so sick.  I do not know if I am getting sick or what is happening with me but I feel dizzy all the time.  I want to puke everything and sooooooooooooo tired.  I am having lot of problems with the food.  I do not feel like eating at all but I just want to be eating popsicles.  I hope I am getting a flu. I do not want to have problems with vitamins or proteins.  I do not know if at 7 months it is normal or not but I hope so because I do not have a dietician.

05/10/08   Mother's Day in Mexico 

What a sad day been so far from my Mom on this special day but I had a surprise for her.  I got a trio (Mariachi with only three people) and some roses with a teddy bear, ballon and starbucks cofee.  I also sent a letter to my Mom and the trio read it for her.

 Sixth month:  04/22/08   81lbs lost  Weight 181lbs   


 
 
Today is sixth months since my surgery.  Time really flies.  It had not been an easy Journey but it had given me a lot of regards from it.  I could not make the follow up with my gastric bypass surgeon due to I had lost that health insurance.  Now, I am having my check ups though Kaiser but it is not the same.  In six months I just had one blood test done.   But thanks God I have my support group on this website if not I would be lost.  So far I had lost 81 pounds.  That is really amazing from size 22/24, I am size 16. And from the top I was size 3x/4x.  Now, I am in size XL, amazing, WOW.  But the most important thing is that I can do so many things that I could not do before.  And I have my health back that is the best gift ever.  And of course what can I said about my self-steam, everyone tells me how nice I look.  My husband is happy with the change and I can buy clothes on a normal shop.  BYE, BYE Avenue stores.  I would never regret about this surgery, it just changed my life but do not think that is the surgery and that is it.  A lot of changes came to your life.  Sometimes, I get really depress and I always finish calling my parents in Mexico and making them worry about silly things.  I need to work on that because better and truth love than my parents I will never get it.  I also got some problems on eating solid food. I always ended on the bathroom puking.  I had two accidents on my job; I was so ashamed; I used diapers for a month because I was so afraid to happen again.  I am loosing hair like crazy and so many things it had been happenning in these six months. Do not think it is easy but for sure is work full.

  First of all, I want to thanks God of giving me this new opportunity of life because without health there is no life.  And Second, I want to thanks my parents for all the support they had gave me and not only during this surgery.  They had been there for me always and at anytime with no conditions.  I love them with my entire hearth.  I would be nothing with out them.  Third to my husband, who have had this journey with me.  He is the lucky one, who gets all my compliments when I get depress. But he knows his Huga loves her Hapu with all my hearth.  Thanks to everyone for your support.

Catalina Island


 
We spent my B-day at Catalina Island.  I had a blast !!!.  He gave me a willow fake three for mi living room.  Really preaty.

  Fourth month:  02/22/08    64 lb  lost     Weight 198 lb 


 

This month it had been the most difficult one.  I have had a lot of hair lost.  I had been really depressed the last couple of weeks.  I hope next month I get better.


 I went shopping and I got 5 Pants and I am in size 18.  I could not beleive it from size 24 to size18.  It just motivates me a lot.  It is amazing this surgery is a miracle.

11/30/08 New Year's    

   

On New Year's Eve we got together with some of my husband’ friends.  All of them are from Colombia.  It is amazing people from Colombia love to dance all night.  They dance salsa; I have no clue how to dance it.  But I had an amazing time.  We had Colombian tamales for dinner, actually they taste much better than the Mexican’ tamales. We had grapes for the wishes and we hug each other.  Really nice day

12/13/07  Back to baby food 

I am having trouble having my solid food.  Every time that I tried a new food I finish on the bathroom to puke.  I called the nutritionist and she said that my stomach is not ready to go to that stage, so back to the baby food.  Well, at least I am not back to the shakes.


11/30/07  First dumping syndrome

It was at my husband's company Christmas party and they had a dinner buffet.  I had an egg roll thinking it was the best choice.  But, of course it was not.  I puke a couple of times.  Thereafter I was able to enjoy the party.    I met RockenRoxy there. She's my husband's coworker.

11/28/07  My first doctor's appointment  

Yesterday,  was my first doctor’s visit.  I had lost 35 lb on one month. They congratulated me.  They asked me if I was hungry after meals and I told them not at all.  Well, when I saw the dietician she almost had a hearth attack when I told her I was eating one cup.  She told me that it has to be half cup and the measure is with the cooking spoons.  Not a normal cup.  So, that is why I was not hungry at all.  She told me that she does not understand how I had lost weight.  They also asked if my bowel movement it was ok and I said wonderful.  So, they asked me if I can go every day and I reply sure from 3 to 4 times a day and diarrhea.  I thought that was normal after gastric bypass but wrong they told me that my body is not absorbing any nutrient.  They sent me a medicine to regulate my stomach.  If I continuous with diarrhea in three days I have to call them.   I was upset because this time I am really serious on loosing weight and I start making my stomach bigger with the measure of a coffee cup I was eating each meal.  At least it was for one week. 

  
11/25/07  Wedding anniversary

Today is our wedding anniversary.  We did not do anything special due to my husband's grandmother is at the hospital.  She had broken her hip and she had surgery.  She is 93 years old and she is so strong. She is doing ok.  Basically, we spent the day at the hospital.  But now we are 7 years married.

          Soft Food

 On November 20, 2007, I was supposed to have my appointment with my nutritionist to change my diet from liquids to soft food.  I called the doctor’s office to confirm my appointment.  They move the appointment to the 29^th because the holyday.  I told the receptionist that I had two days that I had not eat anything because I cannot handle the shakes anymore.  Therefore, by phone the nutritionist told me to eat this week really soft food.  So, I bought my baby food.  That taste like heaven.  Overall, on my diet I am doing wonderfully, not hungry or feeling sick.  But, I got on a deep depression for a couple of weeks.  Reason of that is that I suspended my depression medicine due to I could not drink it crushed.  It was awful, I could not stand it, and therefore, I suspended it.  But the consequences were terrible.  Now, I can cut in pieces my medicine, so I am back on control.  Anyways, so far I had lost 30 lbs.  I start using clothes that did not feet me anymore.  That is an amazing feeling.   Something, that I am doing terrible is on exercise, it had been one month and I do not feel like doing it.  I know I have to do it but I have not been able to start doing it.  Well, I will keep you posted next month.
