Wow what an amazing trip this had been

Jul 06, 2009

I have not been good at all at keeping up blogs.  My journey has been an awesome one.  Almost 17 months post op now and weighing in at 130 lbs this morning.  I would recommend this procedure to anyone.  Although the journey is not always easy, the end results are just fantastic!  I love shopping for clothes or even just trying things on to see how I look in them for the fun of it.  I feel so much more confident about myself.
Last Monday I just underwent a tummy tuck and a breast lift.  Now once again I need to get past the hard parts to fully enjoy the results, but wow, I cant believe I finally have a flat tummy with no overhangs.  Its incredible!  I am 52 years old and finally have the body I longed for since my late 20's.  Its hard to tell with all the swelling exactly what size I will be but before the plastic surgery I was wearing 8/10 from an orginal 24/26.  I may finish at about a size 6/8 which is just incredible to me.  I owe everything to the medical break throughs and my doctors who performed them for me.   Thank you so much DR. Katz and DR. Ellen.   You helped me get my health back!

12 weeks post op

May 07, 2008

Well finally hit 12 weeks.  I can eat just about anything but beef according to my doctor.  I do have some ground beef and I have had a small portion of prime rib and they have gone down fine. 50 pounds down and  feeling good about my weight loss, but surprised I really dont enjoy eating anymore.  My head still thinks the same, the smells, the thoughts, but once I sit down to eat the meal it really doesnt seem as tasty as I remembered and after the first few bites, I am more aware of how my tummy is feeling than how much my mind wanted to eat.  My favorite thing to eat anymore is soup.  It goes down the easiest, although it doesnt have much protein.  I know I really need to work on my protein intake.  I gave up the protein drinks, I just couldnt stomach them anymore.  I rely on sugar free carnation instant breakfast and some low sugar protein bars.

8 week post op

Finally hit 8 weeks, and finally feeling much more normal.  Food is beginning to go down a bit faster, and I can enjoy it again.  These 8 weeks were difficult, many challenges along the way but the reward is beneficial.  38 pounds down and feeling good about it.  Many people are noticing the change now and its exciting.  I am able to eat with a crowd now, just a whole lot less then I use to.  But thats ok, I still get to try almost everything, and once you get past the first couple bites, all the rest of the bites tastes the same anyway, so I dont really feel deprived ;-)

4 weeks post op

Mar 12, 2008

I am back to work and doing quite well.  Trying different allowable  foods a little at a time.  Everything goes down quite slow.  My biggest problem is eating with other people.  I can't seem to eat slow enough to not cause feedback when sitting with other people.  Just doesn't seem normal to take 45 minutes to get a very small plate of food down.

Feeling much better

3 weeks post op today!  Finally feeling much more like myself.  Planning on going back to work soon.  Started soft foods today.  Nice to have something to chew again!  So far things are going down quite well..no nausea and feeling full after just a small amount of food.  Currently down 22 pounds, beginning to fit into some clothes I havent worn in quite some time.
