SHOELEATHER
Nov 26, 2007
Well, it's November 26th. Today makes 8 weeks out. I have an appt for weigh in with Dr. Houston on Thursday. My scales tell me that I have lost 38 lbs. I have people (coworkers, husband) calling me "skinny" now, which is far from the truth, but it feels good anyway.
I drink alot of water, hot tea, decaf coffee, protein drinks for breakfast. I just found that I can eat boiled eggs. Eggs have been a real problem for me because they come right up. I guess it was the grease in the scrambled/fried variety that was doing that.
I am also cold all the time. I live in Tennessee. The coldest it's been so far is 31 degrees and you would think I was an eskimo. Crazy. I didn't believe that I would ever feel like that. I was one of those kids that always lost her coat because I would go outside, get hot and take it off....
Bizarro world, I tell ya.

Getting stronger :-)

Well, Tomorrow will be day number 30 post op. I have lost 25lbs in 30 days. Amazing.
I don't get hungry much. And when I do, I have to be slow and careful when I eat. No more eating in front of the television. It's too distracting and I tend to eat too fast. Also, no more eating behind the wheel of a car. It's the same thing. I have to be able to focus on what I am doing or I eat too fast or don't chew enough and get stuff stuck. And LORD, but that hurts. It feels like a someone has inserted a jack in my chest and is spreading it slowly. I also found that dry stuff does the same thing. Dry chicken and even grilled shrimp will do it. I gave up on the chicken, but for the shrimp, i put about a tsp of melted butter on about 4 pieces and that solved the problem.
I have seriously dumped twice. The first time was with 3 grapes. The second time was with 6 green beans that must've been cooked with sugar. Thank God there's a learning curve with this stuff.
This has been SUCH a blessing.

Post op post :-)

Well, I am 3 weeks post op. I have lost 19lbs. I started at the hospital at 247lbs and today I weigh 229. I am certainly not thin yet, but it's coming off for the first time in YEARS.
I spiked a fever after my surgery and had to stay an extra day. I cried because it was an extra day away from my 4 year old son, but we all made it through.
I am learning what I can eat and what I can't. I have found that fish goes down best (except canned tuna for some reason, too dry I guess), but it's not always available.
I have also noticed that my hands shake when I am carb craving. Weird. I guess I really AM an addict, or WAS AN ADDICT. Lord, it feels good to say that. :-)

Ok, Looking at surgery on October 1st, 2006. I am so excited and scared at the same time. God has been very good to me. I got my approval on the first try, in about 10 days.
The waiting game

Well, I am due to have my consultation with the surgeon on July 18th. They can't send my information to the insurance company until this is done. I have been working on this since last November....so this has been a long road. Pray for me, please.
