I broke the damn thing and don't feel the least bit guilty!
Feb 19, 2010
Let me tell you it was discouraging to say the least.....
THEN I BROKE THE DAMN THING YESTERDAY......AND IT WASN'T THE SCALES!!!
It was a plateau!
I was doing the happy dance. I didn't think that things could get much better, until this morning....
I got up, used the bathroom and then stepped on the scales. I wondered if they were broke, as I stepped on them THREE TIMES to make sure I was reading it correctly. It said I was 155 lbs!!!
I am now TEN POUNDS FROM MY LOWEST WEIGHT since I had my WLS! I am only 25 lbs from my goal weight!
Some people may not recognize me when they see me again!
Muscle, Fat, or What? Why did I gain?
Feb 01, 2010
I know I need to get more water in to flush myself out. I did eat some high fiber oatmeal the other day so I wouldn't be constipated and break another hemorroid (I broke two in two days time).
I know that Jillian Michaels from the Biggest Loser says that stress will cause you to not lose weight..
I started exercising on the Wii, but I don't think I could gain 3 lbs of muscle in 9 days time.
I'm not gonna panic but I believe I need to get this in check - NOW. For me I'm doing the 5 Day Pouch Test (5DPT) and see what happens.
The 5DPT is not so much for losing weight but to regain that feeling you first had when you first had WLS. I've been following the 30 minutes of waiting between drinking, eating then drinking again - no liquid with my meals.
I'm NOT gonna let this consume me but I need to be aware of things that are going on with my body.
I made my first goal!

And I am really happy that I lost 15 lbs!! No, it hasn't been easy especially emininating cars (breads, pastas, cakes, cookies, donuts) but I have to think of what is more important - me and my health (and FINALLY geting to my desired weight) or savoring the taste of four chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven.
The next 29 lbs won't be easy. Next week is a DAR Good Citizen's Day and there will be pepperoni pizza, pop (which I've avoided since my surgery in 2005) and cake. I have to get the cake and they want chocolate mousse filling and butter cream icing! I plan on taking some Crystal Light and bottled water to the meeting as it will be a long one, which in some ways I do dread!
My next mini goal is to lose another 5 lbs for a total of 20! I just need to remember to take it one day at a time, that just because I'm not losing weight doesn't mean I'm not losing inches. I also need to remember not to beat myself up if I slip - I just need to get back on the wagon!
My goals are within sight and within reach and I will reach them this year!
Thirteen is NOT an unlucky number!

Actually, I have to credit my maternial grandmother with that saying. She wrote that on the back of a picture of my grandfather and her. They were married on December 13, 1923.
My weight loss has slowed as I'm sure that my body is getting used to not having as many calories. A loss of about 2 lbs a week is good at this point and I hope to make my goal weight by June 30, 2010.
Too Much Time Has Passed
Jan 13, 2010
I started out at 174 lbs - 44 lbs from my original goal as of January 4, 2010. Today I am 164.5 lbs. I have been doing the 5DPT and have shed 9.5 lbs so far.
I have gotten away from carbs, which is good for the moment. I know some carbs are necessary. I wil eventually bring them back into the fold but at a time I feel I can handle it and not any sooner.
I am also thinking of going in half with my dad and getting a Wii System and a Wii Fit. I know that even though dad is not a WLS patient, he says he wants to lose about 20 lbs before the family reunion in May. I'm thinking of possibly getting The Biggest Loser program.
The most important thing to remember is to take it one day at a time, one minute at a time. I may very well slip and fall, but I need to pick myself back up and continue forward. It is the only way I will succeed!
BTW, I graduated from Macomb in December 2009!
March 1, 2007 Happy Birthday!!

I'm now 46 and still damn proud of it. I'm just short about 2 weeks and it will be 17 years since I had my neurosurgery to remove a tumor on my brain.
Been working about 2 months now to secure a job, but no luck so far. Michigan's economy isn't that great, but I expected at least a few interviews....

I find myself eating and drinking much too close...
My sister's ex brother-in-law died on the 16th of February. He was only 49. He was found unconcious on New Year's Day, and never came out of a coma. The funeral was yesterday.

Happy New Year - January 7, 2007
Jan 07, 2007
I got a shock and surprise for Christmas - I got a laptop!! My Toshiba Satellite 1555 CDS was having problems with the power connection and I was told that it couldn't be fixed. This has been a real bummer since I use the laptop for my genealogy. I think my mouth fell open when I realized it was NOT a DVD player for my bedroom, but a HP AMDTurion 64 X2 Mobile technology TL-50 Laptop, with a 100GB hard drive!! I have been transferring my data from the Toshiba to the HP, and deleting a lot of stuff that is no longer needed. I am cleaning it up as best as possible and will give it to my dad to play games on - he can take it to TN and not get bored!
Tomorrow I will go to a company that helps to place disabled clients into jobs. I figure that I have at least 20-25 years left in me that I can work. I will know more tomorrow...
