On Aug 30th 2007 My WLS journey begins I have choose my surgeon Dr. Glen Birkitt from Bristol, Tn he performed the surgery on my mother 7 years ago. I had my initial consultation and got all the info on my new life after WLS. I was given a packet of information on tests and basics that my Surgeon requires to perform my surgery. I also found out that my insurance requires me to have a 6 month Dr directed weight loss attempt which I do not have. Even though I have tried every diet known to man and failed. So I was really disappointed about that. When I found out but im trying to be positive and think how fast that will fly by. Im going to wait a little longer for all my tests since i do have 6 months before the surgery and even be scheduled but i'm still very excited and nervous......
Sept 3, 2007 well I went today to see my PCP to get my diet started and to hurry up and get this 6 month wait over with. My PCP was somewhat familar with the surgery and had several patients who have had the surgery done. I have not been to see my PCP in about 6 years so they gave me a good going over. The nurse took all my vital signs and was quite shocked when she took my blood pressure she wasn't even sure she got a correct reading so she took it 2 times my blood pressure was a horrible 150/105 NOT GOOD!!! My doctor gave me a diet to follow and i'm going to start it tommrow
Sept 21, 2007 well the diet is going pretty good im trying to eat really healthy lots of fruit, veggies and frozen low fat low cal dinners for work everything is going good i have lost 8lbs I'm going to call and schedule my next doctor visit I cant belive 1 month is down wow i hope the next 5 months go by this fast ....
Feb 12, 2008 WOW it's been a long time since i have blogged well ALOT has happened first off BIG thing i switched surgeons I went with a doctor i really am happy with his name is Dr. Hodge with Johnson city Surgical Assc very well run off and its a center of excellence which is very important to me I am almost done with my waiting peroid This is my last month of my 6 month Dr directed diet and wow its went by really fast much faster then I orginally thought it would I have schedulded my Physic Evaluation and after that i can schedule my final constultation with my surgeon and then They can send in my request for surgery to my insurance for approval THEN once that is approved schedule my surgery its really busy right now with all the loose ends im trying to wrap up but its all going to be worth it more to come later.....
April 16th 2008 ... UPDATE :) well its been a while but im happy to say today I got a call from my case manger at Cigna and IM APPROVED for surgery wow what a weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I expected the worst and it turned out ok after all... im so happy right now .. nervous and excited now im just waiting for my surgeons office to call and give me a surgery date hope to hear from them very soon.. i will let everyone know when i get my date until then.....
April 22nd 2008... Another update I now have my surgery date its MAY 6th wow that was quick I'm nervous and excited all at the same time well more to come lata...
