Hi Randy, My name is Judy Jackson, I too weigh 550 pounds. I am 5'8 and married, with a wonderful husband and a beautiful 14 year old daughter. I too, like you lost all hope when my appeal by the Obesity Law & Advocacy Ctr. was turned down by my Insurance company. Since then, for over a year now, I have been trying to get TRC (TX Rehabilitation Commission) to pay for my surgery, as they have so many others I know through my support group. However, to no avail, they turned me down on 10/31/02. Since then I have had an opportunity to be on the John Walsh Show which will air on NBC this Thursday. I have also had my story printed in the local newspapers. An offer is also in the works for a possible appearance on Dateline, and I am currently writing my autobiography. Since I had to go on disability in November 2002, money has been tight and a city councilman had the YMCA in my small town of Benbrook grant me a family membership. I don't make it there often, about once a week for about an hour (4 or 5 laps & some light pool walking) is about all I can take in the pool. Just two years ago I could swim 30 laps! So my health has really declined due to my co-morbids also. I don't really know why I'm telling you all this, except your story is similar to mine, and I wanted to offer a little support. Hello Randy, Just wanted to offer support. Two years is a long time and I am sure frustrating at times. I admire your tenacity. I will say a prayer for you and ask that your fight will end and your wish for surgery granted. I wish you God's speed on your journey. Keep the faith. Dee

Randy, Good Luck! I will try to catch the news tonight, as I too am in Toledo, Ohio. I've personally contacted Marcy K. (state rep)about my insurance woes. She too would be a great point of contact as she truly DOES care about us the people. I too am on disability but only receive Medicaid. (big mouth here, willing to get involved)

Randy, I'm so sorry to hear about the 2 year struggle that you've gone thru but the future is ahead and we will pray that things work for you this time.I had my open RNY last May and I'm doing great. Never give up. Take care and keep the faith.
