Welcome Everyone, My name is Rosalyn I'm full-time student and single mom. I was married when I started this procedure, we are now getting a divorce (not because of the wls). Anyway, I share the same problems many here have, dieting since 9, I've tried every diet in the book and every pill on the market. I started looking into this 2 1/2 years ago and I'm finally ready to go ahead with it.

2/02 I can't wait for my insurance to finally be active so I begin this long process.

5/02 It's finally active!!! yeah! and I'm happy to say that my new pcp gave me a referral and I am just so damn happy!! In a couple of weeks I will be going to my initial consult with the surgeon, I can't wait.

5/22/02 I met with the surgeon today, he is a very nice doctor, very informative. He took out a long time to speak with my husband about his concerns. I feel safe with him as my doctor, my only concern is that although he has been practicing laprascopic surgery for a long time, he has only perfomed 100 or so gastric by-pass surgerys. I've already scheduled all my consultations/testing for the next couple weeks, I will update then. I am so happy this is finally rolling!!!!

9/10/02 Well here I am still waiting....... this is very frustrating. I thought I finished all my test a couple months ago, then my insurance required me to do a couple more. Now I am just waiting for the results from an endocrinology test then we submit it to the insurance and hopefully I will get approved. Hope everyone is having an easier and faster process than I have had.

9/17/02 I am so damn happy!!!!!!!!!! I just heard I have been approved! The process to get approval took only about 3 hours. I can't believe this. I'm so happy I don't know what to do with myself (lol)

9/20/02 Oh Man!! I got a date today! It's gonna be Oct. 9. I'm so happy.

10/8/02 My date is actually on the 10th, which is fine with me. I get one more day to work and one more day to attend my classes. I'm so excited and anxious at the same time.... I feel totally safe with my doctor so that's not a worry, it's more of the pain. I hope I will be given enough pain meds. Anyway good luck to all having surgery soon and those working on getting approvals. I will post again once I'm post-op.

10/13/02 Well I am home!! I finally did it. Everything went great just some pain, but not as bad as I had expected, surgery took about 1 1/2hours. I had a wonderful roomate name Marlene. We had the same surgeon and she went in right after me. It was so good to have someone that had expierenced that same thing you have and be in your room. I'll write more when I am a little more awake.

09/12/03 I did what I always said i wouldn't do and that was taking so long to update. The last 11 months have been wonderful! I have lost about 90 pounds, wearing a size 7/8-9/10 (never thought I could say that) and I feel great. This surgey did so much for my self-esteem that it's hard to put into words. Good luck to all that are getting this surgery.

I've still had no complications and have maintained my weight between 143-147. I still feel the surgery was the best thing to ever happen to me. Good luck to you all :)
