Daniel Del Vecchio

"I have only read 2 reviews of this doctor and they were both favorable. I was taken aback that they were so positive because that is not what I experienced. His bedside manner was atrocious. Being in the medical field myself, I would NEVER EVER treat my patients the way that he treated me. I lost all respect for him. "

Pablo Gazmuri

"I first saw Dr. Gazmurri at one of the information sessions about GBS. I thought he was knowledgeable and that he had a great sense of humor. As time went on, he seemed a lot more serious----I like to joke around and maybe his impression of me was that I wasn't taking things seriously enough. He was NOT thrilled with me when I went to my first weigh in to see if I'd lost weight and my weight had stayed exactly the same. He kind of lectured me about it. I suppose I deserved it, but I was having a hard time "letting go" of food. After the surgery, he was extremely nice to me; I felt like he was more "on my side". The Newton Wellesley office is extremely clean and the staff very nice and they seem to know their stuff. Dr. Gazmurri is a sweetheart, but he also doesn't fool around---he takes his job very seriously. In a way, I felt he was TOO serious for me, but if that is the only thing I can "fault" him with, then I guess he's pretty good! He does encourage going to support group meetings, exercising daily, taking vitamins, and eating no sugar and low fat. In other words, he expects you to take care of yourself and continue to work the program. I guess that I knew about the risks of surgery; we really didn't get into a long discussion about that. But he did tell me that I needed to control my risk level before surgery by losing weight, exercising, and eating right. Overall, I would say he is excellent and I would recommend him to anyone looking for a surgeon. At times, I thought his bedside manner was too serious for me, but that's just my opinion. He really is a sweetheart and as far as surgical competence----well, I'm alive aren't I? He's very competent. "
