14 weeks out

Jul 21, 2012

Wow time flies.  I am 14 weeks out and 55lbs down.  I have been averaging 2-3lbs a week now.  So much has changed in my life since surgery.  My eating habits have changed dramatically, for the good.  I seem to eat alot more.  Good foods instead of bad foods tho.  I am off of all diabetes meds!!  Yipee!!  Im off my high blood pressure meds also.  Instead of watching tv all day, I spend the day at the gym.  I joined Curves first, as soon as my surgeon said I could excerisce.  I started walking the day after surgery tho.  I was up to 5 miles a night.  Curves was a great start for me.  It has worked all parts of my body and built up some endurance.  However, it seemed like it wasnt enough after a while.  So I joined a gym, Planet Fitness.  ITs only 10 bucks a month, no contract.  THey have a free trainer that will sit with you and give you a plan.  I needed that cause I had no idea what I should be doing.  I am now working out twice a week at Curves and 5 days a week at the gym.  I do an hour of the eliptical and then work on different areas of my body each day with the machines.  It seems like the idea of being under 200 lbs has been out of reach for so long.  I am at 200.3 right now and the scale does not want to move to 199.  I'm also in weight watchers for the support.   I have so much more energy than I did before surgery.  I wake up and go and dont stop tll the evening.

Ok, as for clothes goes.  I actually bought a pair of size 15 juniors shorts last week.  WOW!  I was amazed.  I can fit into size 12 ladies now.  Its a great feeling to actually get to look at a store int he normal sizes.  I use to be so bummed that the Plus sizes were so out of style!!  I have not bought alot of clothes because I want to wait till I get closer to goal weight.  I have bought work out gear tho.  I am stylin when I work out.  Its the one little thing that I award myself.  I bought matching work out shoes to go with all my outfits.  Thats what makes me feel good right now.  Its crazy because I take the weekend off from working out and crazy enough, I can hardly wait till Monday to work out again.  What a difference from sitting in front of the tv to being active.  I feel healthy and feel great.  I am excited for my August 21 check up with the surgeon.  And looking forward to my blood test resuts to see the improvement in cholestral and sugar.

TO anyone trying to decide on the sleeve, I say go for it.   Life is too short to be miserable infront of the tv.

6 weeks post op

May 20, 2012

Well I am 6 weeks post op.  I am feeling great.  I am at 223.6.  I havent been this low since 1986.  I have had a very good experience so far.  I had no complications from surgery.  Thank God!  I started walking the day after I got out of the hospital.  I started very slow and just walked slowly around the block.  Now i am up to 2.5 miles a day.  It is a struggle to get my motivation to go but once I go I feel great.   I feel great health wise, however, i do have a motivation issue.  I find it a struggle to get going.  Im hoping that its because of the change in vitamins and meds.  I have been taken off of all diabetes meds, down to one high blood pressure.  I have stenosis in the neck and still have to deal with that.  But one thing at a time.  So far VSG has been a great experience and I am enjoying each day and especially the weight loss.

I had a pair of shorts that I couldnt even reach the button to button up.  They are a real size 16.  I tried them on during my infamous 4 week STALL.  And they fit.  Yipee!!  The stall frustrated me but thanks to the support on here and VSG vixons on FB, i knew it what was going on.  The stall is finally over.  I am going to take advantage of the NON stall time to get results.  My life is changing with each day and I love it.  Thank you God for blessing me with everything.

Tuesday, is my appointment with my 6 week check up with my surgeon.  I am so excited for my appointment.

Update

Mar 10, 2012

Lets see whats new since the last post.  I attended the nutrition class.  It was interesting and a lot of information at one time.  I have studied the nutrition guide over and over.  I did some research to find the least expensive vitamins and protein shakes to buy.  Im glad to see that the protein drinks from Cosco was on the list.  Ive used these in the past and love them.  I found that vitamin world had low prices on the vitamins.  I am all stocked and ready to go.

I also attended the support group meeting.  It was nice to hear other peoples stories.  The topic was depression and anxiety.  Weirdly enough, I am not having any anxiety and it surprises me.  I fee very confident and sure of what I am doing.  I dream of the day that I am not diabetic.  I can get rid of my cpap machine and not have high blood pressure.  Dont get me wrong, I am thrilled at the thought of being able to wear a "normal" size.  I cant imagine being able to go into ANY store and buy clothes.  Gosh, what is that like.  Ive managed to find good stores to buy current fashions and almost but not quite, gonna miss my Torrid store.  Love that store.

I leave for florida and the day I get back I start my pre-op diet.  I know the next month is going to fly by and I cant wait.  I am looking forward to the future of my new life.

Surgery Date Set April 16, 2012

Feb 21, 2012

Well today I visited Dr. Katz to discuss the sleeve.  I asked a million questions and he answered them all!  I am very comfortable with his skills to do this.  I am scheduled for April 16 for my new "birthday".  I consider this the start of my new life.  My divorce was final in July and now I am making a huge change in my life for myself.  I hope to get rid of diabetes, hbp and sleep apnea.  I was surprised when I weighed in today and lost like 7 lbs.  Wow.  I havent really been trying, go figure.  I have my appointment on MOnday Feb 27 for the Nutritional class.  Im pretty excited to learn alll the new ways of mynew life.
When Im trying to go to sleep at night, all I can think about is this surgery.  Thinking about what it would actually feel like to have energy, shop at normal stores, etc.  I also have to have neck surgery this year.  My neck surgery will hopefully be better at a lighter wweight.

Mind Change

Feb 17, 2012

Well Ive done A LOT of research on the lap band and the sleeve.  After seeing all the people that have issues with the band and switch from the band to the sleeve, Ive decided to go with the sleeve.  I made another appointment with my dr to discuss all the pros and cons.  I have 86lbs to lose and really dont think it will work for me.  My dr agreed during our last phone conversation.    The lap band makes me very leery after seeing that the long term effects are just starting to show up in the community.  Band slippage, erosion of the stomach etc.   Ive seen quite a few You Tube videos of people who are regretting the band and having it removed.  I also saw comments and vidoes of a thought to have the lap band taken off the market.  So with all that I am going with the sleeve.  Meet Tuesday with the dr to discuss and set up a surgery date.  It wil probably be the end of April.  :-)   Pretty excited!

Starting the journey

Feb 03, 2012

02/04/2012
Well I saw my family doctor on Thursday and he gave me the thumbs up on the lap band.  I am so thrilled that I found my Weight Watchers log book from last year.  I was on WW for 8 months and lost 10 lbs.  This log will help in the insurance approval.  I need to show 6 months of trying to lose weight.

I got a phone call yesterday from Dr. Katz office that my dr had already sent all the forms back.  The only thing left is the physcological testing.  I have an appointment on Friday.  Wow!  That means I'm already done with the insurance requirements.  The life changing event is closer than I ever thought.

My new chapter

Jan 24, 2012

I have struggled with my weight since 6th grade.  That was the year I was called "fatso" and the name stuck forever.  I am now 46 and recently divorced.  I've cleaned out the toxic things in my life.  The last toxic thing is my eating habits and weight.  I am beginning a new chapter in my life and what better way to start than by losing the extra weight.  Im nervous and excited to begin the journey.

I see the Dr. next week for my initial consultation.  I went through the entire process about 4 years ago to have the bypass surgery.  My primary physician would not agree to the surgery.  I was mad at first but then I was glad because I saw a friend go through it.  Yes she got thin, but has had a lot of medical issues since.  Ive finally made the decision that I want the banding.  My primary dr. agrees with "this" procedure and has given me the thumbs up to begin.  Im excited yet nervous but believe it will be the best decision of my life.

I was diagnosed with sleep apnea, diabetes and HBP.  I am hoping that they all disapear  after this procedure.  I am willing to work hard and achieve my goal to lose this weight
