Wow, i guess it's been a while huh?

The surgery went great, no complications, but BBBAAADD gas pains. didnt last long though. recovery was pretty good, emotionally it was tougher than physically, cause everyone is eating like normal, and you feel like you will for real never eat anything good again!!! Well, it isnt true. I eat what everyone else eats. (Well, not the sugary gooey stuff, but you can get reeeeaally good sugar free chocolate, and cookies, etc...) I eat pizza with the family, and chicken, pork chops, ground beef, HELL - New years eve i had a steak!! It took me a good while to eat it mind you, but still. i don't feel deprived anymore. and i am a pretty cheap date, cause i only eat a childs size portion. LOL.Anyway....i gotta run - that happens a lot nowadays - but i will try to check in again sooner, cause i would love to think i can help out anyone just beginning this journey. It is a wild ride, but an awesome one!!!!!
Made it through PATS
Jul 09, 2009
well, yesterday i had my PATS done at Barix. i was impressed with how thorough they were. they did blood tests, urine test, chest xray, breathing tests, ekg, gall bladder ultrasound, questions, question, questions...... really great! i like that they dont just slap you up on the table like a number ("next"). they make sure they know you inside and out. that makes me feel secure. so......12 days till surgery! aaaaahhh!!! i am sooo excited, but of course scared too. i am not really scared about the surgery, but the afterward. this isnt like a tonsilectomy, where you have surgery and then a week later it's back to life as usual. I will never again live my life "as usual". it is kind of hard to imagine such a radical change of lifestyle. No more daily drive thru at mcdonalds. no more super sized caramilk bars from the donation box at work. these things shouldn't worry me so much, but they do. i guess if they werent such a huge part of my life, i wouldnt need this surgery to begin with.
anyway, on a happier note, my PATS did go great. apparently i am as healthy as a horse. (a fat horse, but a horse none the less. lol) i think that it is nothing short of a miracle that at this size i am so healthy, and this just reinforces the fact that i am taking this step at the right time - before i have serious weight related health issues. Also a cool thing, was that the doctor said my lung capacity was probably better than his, that i was functioning above 100% ( I didn't know it was possible to be ABOVE 100%) so....i guess quitting smoking was a good idea huh? i am 4 months smoke free now. Anyway, onward and upward!
I have a date!! Yipee!!

Also, since last i posted, i quit smoking!!! it has been 1 month and 4 days. The only thing that sux is that now i am having trouble breathing in bed.....apparently this is normal as my lungs are getting used to all this fresh air, and clearing themselves of the skack i have accumulated over the last 10 years as a smoker. Hopefully this will pass soon, geez.......who knew i would quit smoking and THEN have breathing trouble???? LOL
I have to say, OH has been a God send. so many things have come up that would have totally freaked me out if i hadnt had these boards. I am sure that after surgery the same will apply. So, to all of you here who are so helpful........thanks guys, you all ROCK!!!! and i will depending on you a lot more, so dont go anywhere! HEE HEE!!!
And so it begins.....
