Step 1 Complete!

May 16, 2009

I've been thinking about and researching wls for more than 3 years now. I went through a really long depression, and a nasty divorce in this time. I've finally bounced back from the depression and have accomplished a lot of goals I set for myself lately. I've even lost 2 pant sizes in the past 4 months.

I decided it's time to stop making excuses. I want to give myself the tool to keep my weight loss going and to make a permanent change.I decided to choose a surgeon and attend his seminar. I chose Dr. Chris Eagon in St. Louis.  I decided that for me the best option is a lap Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. I submitted my medical history and insurance information today by mail. Hopefully my journey will start as they confirm I'm a canidate for surgery and contact me so I can attend a support group meeting.

I have a little PTO time saved at work and I'm hoping to have my surgery by the 2nd week in August. I'm excited that the recovery time is fairly short so I can return to work within a week. Being a single mom this is most important to me. I'm very commited to following all pre-op and post-op instructions to a T.

I'm so excited to get started!!
