"I was told by Dr. Hellings office that I needed to contact my insurance company before I can get a consultation even though I was referred to him by my PCP. I find this a little strange because everyone that I have seen on here seems to have gone to the surgeon, and then THEY sent a letter to the Insurance company. Am I wrong, or shouldn't they make sure I am a candidate for surgery BEFORE I go to my insurance Company? Makes me think that this surgeon, and his office do not care about the patient, but more care about getting their money. this however may not be the case, and possibly just a misunderstanding on my part. I am with Principle Financial Group_ private Health Care Systems insurers, and I know they will cover this surgery, because 3 Coworkers have had this done, so I know the money issue should not be an issue. I am confused... <B>10-12-01 UPDATE:</B> I have a consultation on November 5th. I find out my surgery date then. <B>11-5-01 UPDATE:</B> My Consultation went Well. My surgery date is December 15th 2001. The staff at Dr. Hellings Office is AWSOME!!! the Nurse, her name is Patricia Ryan is very nice, and funny! the Dietition is very informative, and Dr. Helling himself seemed very confident. Only talked with the Doctor a few minutes, because everything I had a question was answered earlier in the consult. All in all I am very glad I chose Dr. Helling, because he is the only Board Certified Doctor in KC that does these procedures. "
