3 Months Post-Op

Nov 21, 2010

I'm not use to putting my feelings and progress online but here goes...... This has been an incredible journey thus far. I am learning more about me, my body , personal choices and about my realationship with food. I am currently almost 4 months post-op, my surgery was 8/10/10 and I have lost 61 pounds since surgery and it feels great.

I was 338lbs when I had my surgery and I'm now 277 pounds, wow can u believe it. I am a nurse and a personal chef so I've been recreating recipes of some of my favs making them better and healthier for me to eat. Its been a challenge but healthy food can really taste good. Taking vitamins everyday and monitoring my protein and water intake is also very new to me but I'm adjusting rather quickly. The support I've had from family and friends has been great.

I don't always see the weight I've lost when I look in the mirror I think my brain has to catch up with my changing image, but I do see it when I put clothing on that doesn't fit anymore or when I put something on and now I can fit it. All I know is when I see the scale moving and the clothes getting baggy  I get happy. I'm glad I made the decision to have this surgery I feel like the real me is beginning to show through.

I've met some very nice people on OH and have gotten a lot of good information on life after WLS. I encourage anyone thats still deciding or that just has  a question to utilize this forum, chances are whatever your question is someone has had the same question at some point and time.

I went through Einstein bariatrics for my surgery, my surgeon was Dr. Ramsey Dallal. I am very pleased with him and his team. I have called hs office several times in the beginning with questions and his staff is always willing to take the time and help. I actually called his service at 3:30 am once and my surgeon called me back within 10 minutes. He was kind and patient and most importantly he listened to my concerns, turned out I was worried for nothing everything was okay. He reassured me and said don't hesitate to call if you need to. My experience thus far with my medical care has been great i really have no complaints. I look forward to seeing them in another 3 months to mark my progress.

Well as I do some recipe makeovers I plan on posting them , please feel free to comment and let me know your oppinions . Bye for now.
