Wow, it's been a while since I've done this. Life is going good. I've got 6 months left in school before graduation. I've lost down to 148 lbs so far and feel great. I can honestly say food doesn't really hold any joy for me at all anymore. I generally get sick when I eat, just an upset stomach pretty much. Unfortunately it tastes me at least a half hour to feel better. Oh well, at least I'm still losing. I'd like to get down to 130 lbs, but am not sure it will happen.

I am so full of energy these days and seem to have ants in my pants syndrome. I've also been losing my hair which completely stinks. I started taking biotin and vitamin E which seems to be helping some.

Other than those few things, I'm doing great and haven't regretted this decision for one instant. I am so much happier with myself and my life. It's been a great journey so far.

Feb 10, 2009

Well, it was 3 weeks yesterday since surgery and I have been doing really well. I started going to the gym this past Saturday and the weight really started coming off. The only problem is, I feel really run down after I workout, so I think I might cut back a bit and take it a little easier. I'm the type that I always tend to overdo, always got to go for the gusto, ya know! I've lost about 28 lbs since starting my liquid diet (according to my scale) which started Jan 5th. I've done great with the diet so far, for the most part.

I did go to taco bell today and ordered some of the refried beans, thinking...high protein and pureed! Well, didn't sit so well, that was the first time I dumped and it was AWFUL!!! I never want to feel that again. Of course, I couldn't be resting at home when it happened, I was in the middle of one of my college classes. Nearly fainting in class is not so much fun. I've learned a valuable lesson though, stear clear of refried beans for the time being.

My husband has noticed that I'm getting smaller, which is very cool! I can now fit into size 20 jeans, where I was in a comfortable size 24 before surgery. After surgery (until the staples were out) I was wearing my baggier 26's. The first few weeks were really rough for me but they are getting much better. If anyone has any interesting tips for me, please let me know!
Good luck all!

Home after surgery

Jan 21, 2009

Surgery went well and the staff at St. Vincent Hospital in Green Bay were fabulous. I'm pretty tired but am doing well otherwise. I've been trying to get rid of this excess gas, but am sure that will come with time. I was in the hospital 2 days in all. The first day I felt like I had been hit with a Mack truck, but after that, I started doing well. I walked quite a bit and kept all my liquids down and felt no nausea. Dr. Johnson said he had to reroute some vessels during the surgery since some were short but all went well. I'm just very happy to be back home and am trying to take it easy. If anyone has any suggestions for making life easier, let me know.

4 Days to Go!

Jan 14, 2009

Well, I have 4 days left until the big day. It seemed like last week went on forever and this week is just flying by!  I had my pre-op appointment yesterday and that went well. I had some blood drawn and my prescriptions called in. Dr. Johnson has me taking 2 different antibiotics the night before the surgery and then a month's worth of Lovenox after I get home from the hospital. That should be fun having to give myself injections. Oh well, as long as it helps to prevent blood clots I am happy.

This whole liquid diet totally sucks so far. I'm having the most awful time trying to stick to it. I realize I will be on liquids pretty much for a while after surgery, but at least I won't be hungry then. My sister-in-law had the surgery almost 2 years ago and she said it is soooo much easier with the liquids after the surgery. I'm just tired of feeling like I am starving. On an up note though, I feel pretty good and have lost about 11 lbs, woohoo!

Well, I need to clean house and cook for everyone else. I shall post again after surgery.

Ready for the journey to begin!

Jan 03, 2009

Today is Sunday, one day to go until I start the liquid diet. I have tried to stock up on whatever I am able to have for the next 2 weeks. I am a bit excited to start the liquids, yet dread it at the same time. I am excited because it will signify that the surgery is really going to happen, I dread it because who really wants to only have liquids for 2 weeks? I do realize that it will help me transition after the surgery.

Today we are taking the kids to an indoor water park and then hitting the Outback Steak House for my "last meal". I am also going to start taking some pictures and starting my weight loss scrap book.

I am still having a very hard time wrapping my brain around the idea that one day in the next year or so, I will be way thinner!!!
