I am a 55 yr old grandma of 14 grandkids, 5 adult children, and one husband for 37 yrs.
Had a 17 month battle with blue cross of Illinois.  But with several appeals received my approval.  Had the RNY on 4-06-06.  needed to lose 233#. Am 6' tall.   As of 10-12-07 i have lost 202#.  Many folks say i shouldnt lose anymore weight, but dr said should lose it so i can get off 1/2 pill i take for  blood pressure.

I was on 160 units of diabetes shots per day, lipitor, diabetes pills, etc.  $1000 per month.  The day of surgery they took me off all meds, and i thought they were trying to kill me !!  But i have done extremely well with every med for diabetes taken away that day and have not needed them since.  Thus, the cure for severe diabetes, type 2 is definetly diet and exercise.
my general dr is shocked at my immediate results.  i think he is sold on this surgery now.

you are never too old to change your life.  I am a new person now to my kids, grandkids, and friends.  Much energy, look younger, feel younger and no complications at all.  my dr was Dr Rosemarie Jones.  God bless those people for their helping me and others everyday.
It is soooo nice to walk into a building and not be stared at or made fun of. I look fairly normal now.  Just like everyone else with a "little" weight to lose.   When you are a 6' woman 233# overweight, you get the stares.  Now i catch my friends staring at me because they cant believe the difference.

God bless each one of you on your journey to a "normal" life.
