Calcium Citrate

Aug 17, 2010

Today I received the calcium citrate chews that I ordered from Bariatric Advantage and let me tell you they are great!  No longer will I worry about getting my calcium in.  All I have to do is chew 6 of these a day.  I got Lemon, Rasberry and Chocolate, I can switch it up all I want.  It was 9.99 per bag which contains 60 chewables.  Might be a little expensive but the ease and taste is so worth it for me, at least for now.  Maybe in the future I can stomach the big calcium pills but right now the thought of trying kills me.

Does anyone else have feedback regarding our vitimin regime?

I made it!

Aug 14, 2010

Well friends I am now 3 weeks out and finally feeling a little bit human again.  I had my surgery on 7/26 and it went great.  I was in the hospital 2 nights.  Once I got home I had a few minor complications. I lived with severe constipation-to the point of impaction- for 3 days and I'm telling you that was the most painful part of this entire journey so far.  I took milk of magnesia and tried to do an enema even but it still took 3 days.  The doc told me that during surgery my intestines shut down and that in combination with the narcotic pain killers is what caused the problem.  My second issue was a hematoma.  When I went for my 2 week post up the nurse pulled off one of the steristrips and I started bleeding!  After the surgery I had a huge bruise there that did not dissolve, instead it clotted so the doc had to come in and cut it open and drain it.  So then I had to go through wound care.  I also have a problem with keeping hydrated but I am hanging in there.  All in all the surgery was not a bad experience, I hit a few potholes but nothing that stopped me.

I am tolerating foods well and have not had any dumping, yet.  I would love to talk to others on here and hear about your experiences.  You can never have too many friends!!
