(Before I start, I want to take a moment to say a heartfelt thank you and big hugs to Sally, aka, Annoying Lizard, for creating this very charming and pretty Profile site! She's the bomb!)
My name is Sheila and I am a 50 year old woman with a wonderful husband of 31 years and 2 grown-and-flown-away sons, both with wives, one with my glorious grandchild, Hannah, who is just over one year old. I have been morbidly obese for at least 25 years, but I have always been active and able to get around fairly easily. However, for some reason, when I hit my 50th, my health started to go to heck. I came up with several co-morbidities in an alarmingly short time, including boderline diabetes, severe obstructive sleep apnea, GERD, and HTN, just to name a few. I can truthfully say that even tho I have been researching RNY for 2-3 years, these co-morbs really scared me and I decided if I wanted to live I needed to get this surgery, because for sure none of the diets I have been on over the years have worked and sustained my weightloss. I have been actively pursuing getting the surgery for a full year. When I finally started working for a company that covers that procedure, I started pursuing. It truthfully took a complete full year of jumping through all the insurance hoops to make this thing come true. It says it best on the message boards, "Buckle up tight, its going to be quite a ride!"
