I have had weight problems all of my life! I remember as young child being the one who was picked last and made fun of! In recent years, I have started of health problems as a result of my weight. I've tried all types of diets with very little or no success.
I first heard of WLS surgery several years ago and it terrified me! At that time there were many horror stories and the surgery methods were very different from today.
About 5 years ago, I met someone who had the laproscopic surgery and she has done fantastic. I began talking to my primary care physician then. He was totally against it! As time has gone by, he much more in favor. Back in November, the gastroenterologist I went to for "digestive issues" told me he wanted me to see Dr Weaver (RNY surgeon). I called the number he gave me and requested the information, completed the packet and returned to Dr Weaver's office. Since that time I have started the process for insurance approval, including psychological evaluation and monthly weigh ins with my primary care physician. I waiting now to have the first meeting with bariatric surgery center nutriionist. I have hope for the first time in years for a new way to live life and not be constantly worried about my weight and health. I've met a few people who have had the surgery locally and I didn't recognize them at first.
I'm very thankful for this website! It's great to read of others experiences and gain hope for them.
