Tomorrow I will be 1 week post op.  The surgery went really well.  Except for the terrible gas pains and a pain on my left side.  Nothing that I can't  handle.  The sugar was at 11 am, I went into recovery at 1:30 and by 4:00 I was in a room.  You want to know the best part?  I was up walking at 5:30 and walked about 7 times that night.  I was soooo proud of myself and my hubby was really proud of me.

I have been able to tolerate everything.  Have not had any nausea or anything weird.  Outside from the annoying gas that I have which is normal the biggest challenge has been trying to make the 64 oz liquid minimum.  I never thought it would be so hard to drink tat much liquids....but it is.   I am taking 1 day at a time and am walking everyday.  I haven't felt week and best of all.....I AM OFF MY DIABETIC MEDICATION!!!    Just that alone makes it all worth it. 

I went to the doctor today and I have lost a total of 28 lbs since my liquid diet. and a total of 14 lbs my  first post-op week.  I am speechless.  I actually had to look at the scale twice.  I mean I haven't been this weight in years.  I am energized and feel great.  Most of all I feel sooooo supported by everyone around me. My husband has been wonderful.   I am truly blessed.

Okay so it's been 9 days on the liquid pre-op diet and it has not been that bad.  I have lost a total of 14 lbs so far.  I feel a little tired today but I think its just the stress of getting everything ready at home and work and finishing my finals at school.  Tomorrow I go to the surgeon for a final visit prior to the surgery.  I notice I have more anxiety.  Can't really tell if it's nerves or the lack of any food.  It's funny because I am not hungry I just miss chewing.  But I am 110% committed to journey.

Started my Pre-Op Diet yesterday.  Not bad so far.  Drinking tons of water helps.  Kind of remind me of when I did slim fast years ago.  Started walking also.  WOW...am I that out of shape?  Well want to do everything possible in order to really embrace every  moment of this journey.  

I was approved today!!! Woohoo … my RNY surgery is scheduled on May 10, 2011. I think I am still in shock. I have been in and out of the hospital so many times for asthma and diabetes; I have been working so hard for months trying to make this happen.  I can’t believe I have a date.   I literally just sat for some time after I got the call just processing everything. Of course things like my child, my husband, family and friends came to mind. But I am excited about finally rediscovering the person I used to be and moreover the person my son’s never met. I am ready for this. A little nervous but ready!

Wooohoooo....today my letter was sent to Avmed!  This process has been a little long but well worth it. I cannot wait until I hear back from them.  Does anyone have AVMED State Employees Healthcare?  I don't even know how long it will be until I hear back form them.
