Weigh in wow!

Jul 03, 2011

I have been weighing myself off and on.  I weighed myself this morning and was at 289.  I have lost a total of 27 pounds since my Pre op visit.  I also had my mother help me take my measurements yesterday and charted them.  I can't believe I have really lost that much.  It has been so long since I had any hope in losing weight.  I am extremely happy.  My mother and I were amazed at the inches that have come off already in such a short time.  I am going to the doctor on Tuesday and can actually say I'm going to be happy to get on the scale for once in my life.

Itching and a good nights sleep

Jun 29, 2011

The surgery is over and everything came out wonderful!.  I am very happy with my choice.  I still have the G tube and am learning what I can and can not stand to eat or drink.  I have entered into a new phase of recovery....the itchy phase.  My stomach is a huge itch as all the incision points are healing.  The slightest touch of fabric rubbing against even one of the little points starts the itching in all of the points.  I am eagerly waiting for my first appointment with Dr. Jawad so that he can take the staples out.  Hopefully then I can put something on my stomach to stop the itching.

A good thing that has happened was that I can finally sleep in my own bed. YAY!  I have had to sleep in a recliner because I couldn't handle getting into my bed until just recently and my back was killing me.  I have a really high bed and it was just not happening before.  I am also able to do more things by myself which makes me very happy.  The only time I have to call for help now is if I drop something on the floor.  Then its usually a staring contest between my dog Toby and myself to see if he is going to try to get whatever fell on the floor before help of the human variety arrives. lol

Upcoming Surgery

Jun 16, 2011

Hello everyone reading this.  I have my surgery scheduled for Monday, June 20th.  I am excited and looking forward to finally getting a new start in life.  I am also starting to get very nervous.  I have never had any surgery and I know I do not like pain.  The staff at Dr. Jawad's office and at the Ocala Regional Medical Center have been fantastic.  Talking with them did a lot to calm my fears...I think I am suffering through the fear of the unknown....exactly how bad will the pain be and how soon will the pain meds kick in.  Kelli, Dr. Jawad's surgical coordinator, explained about the gtube and the other tubes that will be sticking out of me.  I'm glad she let me see the Gtube during my pre op visit because I had built it up in my mind as something monstrously big that would be sticking out of me.  Hmmm...Did I mention being a wuss when it came to pain?  I am sure that the operation will be fine.  I am not at all worried about the operation.  Dr. Jawad has an excellent reputation and after talking to some of his patients I feel I could not be in better hands.
I went to a support group and saw that everyone has had a lot of excellent results so far.  I learned some good tips tonight and in fact learned about this website.  I am hoping to meet other people that are going through or have gone through with weightloss surgery.  All I can do now is wait and try to think calming thoughts about fast acting pain meds.
