I moved to Topeka, KS in August 2001 from Baltimore,MD, where I was born and lived for 11 years. I've always been a chubby kid, but it didn't get out of control until we moved and I started middle school with all  new kids. It was stressful and within a year I had gained about 100ib. This led to being made fun of, which led to emotional eating, which led to more weight gain, which led to more teasing!!!! I was diagnosed with PCOS at age 13, and I started going to Children's Mercy Hospital and began taking massive amounts of Metformin to try and control my hormones. It, along with various weight loss plans helped me lose a little, but it always crept back on. In High School, I found my core group of friends and became more stable, but the weight kept creeping on, and now I'm almost one year post HS and my highest weight has been 281.5. I had been thinking about weight loss surgery for awhile, my father had a RNY several years ago (although he has gained back part of his weight), but the idea didn't become concrete until my first appointment with an adult endocrinologist(I aged out of CMH) He suggested weight loss surgery as a good option for permanent and high weight loss. He suggested a program here in town, I attended a seminar, sent in my paper work, and now have a surgical consultation appointment on May 6th. We'll see how it goes from here!
