Hello to all! Thanks for looking me up!
My name is Sarah Louise Hagans Keller. I am 24 years old and I am a mother of an amazing nearly 2 year old. I am also married to my wonderful husband Michael Keller who is a lead Technology Guy at Greenfield Central High School. I am from Greenfield, Indiana which is 20 minutes east of Indianapolis. I am wanting bariatric surgery because I have struggled with my weight all of my life. I remember my mother used to make me do diets when i was even 6 years old...that being said. I am done struggling.
The last couple of months I have been trying to figure out if there are any doctors that accepts my insurance which is the healthy indiana plan. Luckily on yahoo answers ndcase told me to look up her story here on OH.com. We started talking and she said there are a few docs. that do. So I searched and I came across. Dr. John Huse. Tomorrow I have an appointment scheduled to do the prequailfying stuff.
How do I think wls will help me? Like i said before, I have struggled with my wieght all of my life. It all became worse when I started becoming pregnant. I never thought my wieght was that much of an issue till i found out that my horomes were not right and i started having miscarriages. When I had a lasting pregnancy (1:4 - which is John) I then had gestational diabetes and Pregnancy Induced Hypertension. AFter that I started having galbladder attacks. Now recently other comorbities have followed: depression over my wieght loss plateu due to being pre-diabetic, arthritis in my wieght bearing joints (knees and hip), hygeine issues, keeping up with my son, asthma and generally just a bad immune system. I have read numerous success storied where most of these were aleviated.
So, what am I doing now to prepare? Right now I have read a couple of books on bariatric surgery. I have watched many wieght loss journeys on youtube and i have a relative who has just hit her 1 year anniversary with her wls. I have started preparing myself on the "no trans fats" but not going to fast food restaraunts and cutting my meals in half. I am working on stopping all sodas because that will be beneficial even if i do not get wls. about 6 months or so ago I started really trying to change my active lifestyle. Before this time period i led a pretty heavy sedentary life style. I realsied if i had kept on doing this i would never be able to keep up with my son. So, while cutting back on sugars and fried foods I also started to work out. MY routine: I go on a walk with my son which usually includes sometimes jogging and or running. After that I do Windsor Palates for strength and toning. I lost about 30lbs. so far.
It was slightly concerning to me that I have been doing all of this hard work to loose weight and i finally have hit plateu which has been very disheartening. I feel I am physically and mentally ready to get this done and hopefully with the help and support of wonderful health professionals, my insurance and my family i CAN do this.
    Thanks very much,
Sarah
