Hey everyone I am having a really good day my nephew was over and we played some video games today. Now my son and his girlfriend are her to hang out for a while. I have been watching some good vegetarian cooking videos on the youtube and now I am going to watch some college basketball for the rest of the night and go to bed early. Hope everyone is having a great day and things are well I will be going back to work on monday and will weigh in then and update this thing.

Today was a great day

Well so far I am crazy loving today. I have spent another day meat free without issues and without being vulgar let me just say that my digestion system is working very good :)

Also I finally was able to walk 1/2k without resting today which I feel real good about my goal was to walk 1k without resting by the end of the month and it will be real hard but I am going to give it a good shot and tuesday.

Thats about all for today I am going to try and keep these short so I post them everyday and don't get tired of comming out here if I can get it done in a few mins. Of course when something big happens I will be out here for a while writing more.

Day 9 on OH Day 1 as a vegetarian

Hey guys I have been gone for a couple days I planned on blogging yesterday but got stuck on youtube posting my vlog out there. Well I have decided to try a vegetarian diet to see how that works. I have a very veggie and fruit loving palet. today went well and without counting cals or anything else I naturally came in with protein and cals good my fat and sodium was a little high so I will have to work on that.

All in all I am hoping for a not obessive way to eat and lose weight naturally. I love protein shakes so will use them to keep protein up without a problem. I know it might seem funny to go vegetarian to make eating easier but I am a little OCD when I get to thinking about calories so I obsess when I am watching them all day. I think on a vegetarian diet I will not have to watch cals nearly as close and still do ok.

I also have felt sluggish ect and I am hoping this will help with my energy levels and deppression. Well I will keep ya all updated in here on how long I last as a vegetarian and if it works for me. I am still allowing myself to have dairy / eggs / and fish. Although I am going to try not to have fish except occationally.

Day 5

Well today was not a bad day at all. I am still feeling ill so didn't get out of the house except to run to the electronics store. I did however control my eating much better. Tommorow I am heading to church in the morning and then I am going to go for a walk after. I also have our youth group tommorow night and playing some sports with the kids is always a good way to get some exercise in :)

Hope everyone else had a good day as well see you tommorow I will also try and get my azz to work and weigh myself

Day 4 spent between the couch and the washroom

Well woke up this morning feeling really ill. I didn't really eat anything to speak of some healthy choice soup and a grill cheese sandwich which left as fast as they came. I literally spent the whole day on the couch watching basketball. I guess if you are going to be sick it's best to have the day off work and have march madness on tv.

I am feeling a little better tonight and am about to go to sleep I hope that I feel good enough in the morning to go for a walk I plan on heading to the 1 mile track and doing a lap with as many rests as needed.

Day 3

Well as it has many times in the past my mouth has got me in trouble lol. I said yesterday I was going to blog on here everyday and then today I regret it. Here is the problem I will not lie cause I don't see the point in it. I Messsed up today. I woke up late and even though I knew we would be running around all day I just put the food issue out of mind and as usual it got the better of me.

Brunch at noon was a big mac combo

Dinner was a cold cut combo subway sub.

then night snacks of chips and diet coke

I didn't really over eat and I think I am pretty close to the 2500cal mark though I have yet to figure it out as I wanted to get this blog in as soon as I could. The biggest thing is the quality of the food I choose was extreamly poor.

I did walk around 2 big stores on half hour shopping sprees which I would usually have rode the electric cart so there is a small possitive light in the day.

I will do better tommorow I have to.

Day 2 Blog Good day with only a small setback

Hey everyone so I have decided I am going to try and log on here everyday.Well first the bad of the day I went over by 65 cals and my fat is real high today. Still not like a horrible cheat day or anything but just want to be honest out here.

OK now for the good news my goal was to make the walk to work today with only 3 rests as I rested 4 times yesterday. I was feeling good so I went for 2 rests only and made it. I was happy about that then when I went in and weighed myself I was down to 480lbs from 481lbs yesterday. I am really happy about that.

I will be off work for the next week and a half but I have to go to work to weigh myself on the shipping scales cause I am too big to use a house scale. So my plan is to do the same walk to work and then back while counting rests I am really thinking there is a shot that by the time I go back to work I will be able to walk all the way there without any resting.

So today was good here are the numbers I didn't like from my nutrition.

2565cals 124g fat  254g carbs  135g pro 56g fiber

The 65cals doesn't really bother me as much as the 124g from fat that is way too high.

OK well like I say will be writing quick updates out here everyday so see ya tommorow I am going to go read some other peoples blogs now that I can stay up and don't have to work in the morning :)

Day 1

Well Today went ok. My goal right now is to start this week at 2500 cals with 30% or less cals from fat and as much Pro as I can make happen. I was going to list everything I ate as I wrote it all down and fitday'd it but I will just give you the breakdown.

Cals  2491
Fat          81g  = 31%
Carbs  272g
Fiber       29g
Protein  167g

I am really happy with my food intake. I also am happy with my effort to walk to work today. It is only .66k to work or 2/3k but that is real far for me right now. I had to stop and rest 4 times. My goal is to not have to rest at all by the end of april then I will start walking home from work as well.

What I am not happy with is my weight. I weighed in today for the first time in a long time and it was ugly. After a very long weekend of vacation I am all the way back up to 481lbs which is only 7lbs under my heaviest weight ever of 488lbs.

Well anyway day one was good and bad but I am no longer going to dwell on things of the past I am going to start focusing on things of the future and at getting my life back and as far as that goes today was a great day.

The Night Before

    Ok so here it is the night before the start of the preperation period before surgery. This is going to be a long journey from here but it needs to start. I had a long weekend and took my wife and kids to my mother in laws for the weekend. I spent last week reading about pre and post surgery diets and thinking about the different things I will need to do and how I can get my exercise, diet and emotional and mental state ready for and for after the surgery.

   So I have been approved by OHIP my health care here in ontario to go get assessed at Henry Ford Hospital to have gastric bypass.So I looked at all the things I have done in the past and where I think the best place to start in all the areas would be. I will be walking for cardio every day. I have found in the past if I don't walk one day it makes it harder to do it the next so this is one activity I have to do daily. I will be lifting weights 3 times a week to start. Lifting is my favorite exercise and I never have a problem getting into the weight room  when I am not suffering from back or leg pain. I will share my diet tommorow but it will be basically 3 meals and 3 snacks under 2000cals, less then 30% fat yada yada I am going to post it daily in these blogs so it will become self explanitory. My goal is over the months leading to surgery to get closer and closer to the post op diet. Emotional and mental wise I am looking into the WLS group that meets in here.

   So starting tommorow I will list all I did and didn't do everyday. I am going to use this because it will then be easy to have anyone in the WLS program who needs to look at where I am at and what I am doing. I will weight in tommorow at work and keep very close records out here through this whole journey. I don't want to take this blessing of being given the tool of WLS as a reason to slack till it happens so my goal is to lose at least 50lbs between now and then if not more.

  I hope to get feed back and welcome it as long as it is polite and constructive I am kind of a tell it like it is person so you will probabley see a lot of my screw ups on here and I expect to be held accountable as it is the very reason to keep the blog so I myself can hold myself accountable.
