Jeffrey A. Hunter

"Dr. Hunter is thoroughly competent; a master at his art of laparoscopic surgery. Steve, the office "main man" is busy, but always returned phone calls within a reasonable amount of time. Dr. Hunter's PA, Kat Redmon, is great -- she does the initial exam, and she is painstaking in the discussion, and thorough in her examination. I was initially told that I would have to meet the Aetna 6-month requirement, but when I questioned Steve about this, and referred to the 3-month alternative requirement, he said he would check into it. He did, he followed through, and I believe that my insurance approval was obtained with the 3-month criteria. The structured aftercare program is critical, and an important element in Dr. Hunter's concern for the medical / physical health aspects of his patient's post surgery experience in their future years of life. The risks are thoroughly addressed; in fact I had to pass a true/false test that assured them I knew what I was getting into. Dr. Hunter exemplifies both surgical competence and a very caring bedside manner; therefore I didn't have to give up one for the other with him. He came in to talk to me early in the morning before my surgery, before I was given any anesthesia. I had thought about writing him a note and pasting it on my abdomen -- not necessary, as we were able to talk, and I could express my concern directly to him! The next day after my surgery, he came into my room to check on me at 6:30 pm, having driven all the way up from his office in Federal Way to see me, after putting in a full day of office hours. If you want lap rny (and why wouldn't you?) go for Dr. Hunter if you can!"

"For bariatric patients, they could be better equipped. The main issues I had were that they do not supply robes to fit large patients, they expect us to wear two gowns, front to back. The final transport I needed, when leaving, first brought me a regular-sized wheelchair, and I had to wait longer for him to go and return with a wheelchair that fit me. Being that most of my stay post-surgery I was feeling good, up and around, etc., I was well-enough to notice that the housekeeping was incompetent. Example was that there was thick dust on the top of the baseboard tiles, and on top of the soap dispenser, as well as other places in the room. I left them a note about that."
