Hello, I am currently undecided about which surgery would be right for me. I am strongly leaning towards lap band but I have had some health issues and I'm concerned about making the right decision. I am hoping that there is someone out there who has had surgery and maybe was in the same situation and could maybe tell me if the surgery they chose was a good idea or if they wish they had gone in a different direction. Ok, here we go...and yes, these are all of my issues. I have interstitial cystitis, IBS, GERD, possible Hiatial Hernia, Chronic Low Back problems, Chronic knee problems, arthritis, have a history of staph infection, have very high triglycerides, thyroid problems, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, migraines, fibromialgia, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, and restless leg syndrome. And I think that's about it. I am worried about lap band because of the fact that it seems my body does not like foreign objects...I have metal in my back and knee and cadaver ligaments and bones and have had nothing but problems. One of which being staph infection. I have fluid on my knee always and a lot of flare ups in my knee and low back. Not sure if it's related to the metal or not. The metal is titanium...so it's not known or supposed to cause problems. I was told Gastric Bypass may not be good because of the IBS. I have constant and severe diarrhea all of the time. Except of course when I have a really bad Acid Reflux flare up, then it's the complete opposite. I know losing the weight will help w/ my back and knee, and I was told it will help w/ the acid reflux/ hiatial hernia and obviously the triglycerides and fatty liver disease and sleep apnea. Basically it should help with everything. I just cannot figure out which one to choose. I have attended seminar, support group, and mindful eating classes. I am also doing counseling so I'm hoping surgery is near...just don't know which one to do
