Hey again everyone...Today makes 7 months since surgery...I am down 99 lbs...Doing great and feeling great...I looked at some pictures of me today 3 days before my surgery and it is unreal...I am so glad that I had this surgery...It was rough for me in the beginning but I am doing fine now...I am so grateful to my husband and my family for all their support couldn't have made it this far without them...

Hey everyone...Just wanted to update...Went for my 6 month check up with Dr. Stickler yesterday...Appointment went great...I have now lost 98 lbs...I am actually 4 pounds below my goal...Dr. Stickler says that of course this early into the surgery I am not able to maintain...Just wants me to add more weight to my exercise program so that I don't lose anymore lean weight...This has been a total life changing event for me as well as I know it has for all of us...Most of my family and friends are really proud of me and have helped me through all of this...I must say  though that there are a few that don't seem to understand and have nothing much at all to say unless it is negative...I know what I have to do for me and my  closest ones and that is what I have done...I go back to Charleston in July for a 9 month workshop...Looking forward to seeing everyone there...I will update again later...

Hey Everyone...I haven't updated for a while so thought I would to a few minutes to do so...Today is 5 months and 2 days since my surgery date...I have now lost a total of 86 lbs......I have was in a size 22 / 24 and am now in a size 10...I had a really rough time back in November but thankfully I am over all that now...I know of several people in my city that have had weight loss surgery and am wanting to get support group together...I feel that hearing about the ups and downs of others can help us all on our journey...Good Luck to all...

Hey everyone!!! Just wanted to update...It has now been 7 weeks since my surgery...I have lost 57 pounds...I have really had a rough time the last month...Had to go this past Wednesday to have and EGD because I have been throwing up most everything solid...Dr Petterson in Charleston done my procedure...He found that my esophogus was almost completely closed...I have to have another EGD in 4 to 6 weeks...I am feeling much better since this procedure...He also found that I have an ulcer in my pouch, he done a biopsy of the ulcer and I will know the results in 10 to 14 days...I will post update after I find out the biopsy results...

Hello All !!!  I went to Dr. Stickler's office on Monday, November 3 for my 1 month follow up...Since day of surgery I had lost 30 lbs...Not too bad I guess...I met with two other ladies that had the surgery the same day as me...It was great meeting them and talking with them about surgery...We exchanged emails so that we can keep up with each others progress and lean on one another if need be...So far things have been OK with the exception of the dehydration that I had...That was a really bad experience and something I hope to never have happen again...As of right now I am gonna just---KEEP ON KEEPING ON---

Hey everybody...I went yesterday...Monday, October 13 to have my staples removed and drain tube taken out...The appointment went Great...It had been 6 days since surgery and I was down 17 lbs...All of my incisions healed well but I had an allegic reaction to the staples...My entire tummy was red and itched miserably...Getting better now though...I have to admit I am having one problem...Since night before last I haven't been able to lay down flat...Under my biggest incision I have a horrible burning and pulling feeling...I told the PA at the office yesterday and she suggested that i use a heating pad ... I did what she told me too and it only got worse...Last night around 9 pm...I was in more pain than I have ever been in my life...I called the emergency number to the office and the PA called me back and told me instead of taking one of my pain pills to take two...that scares me because I hate medicine anyway...I did as she said the pain eased a little around midnight then I started having chest pains...Scary, scary, scary...I kinda think it was from the pain medicine...I never closed my eyes all night...This morning when it was time to get Kaitlin up for school...I literally could not get out of bed...Kaitlin my 12 year old daughter tried her best to help me...It took me 10 minutes to be able to get up...The pain still hasn't eased up much...I honestly hope this goes away soon because it is almost unbareable...

Well surgery is over...Went in on Tuesday Oct. 7, 2008 to have VSG...As I was sitting in the room waiting to go back for surgery  Dr. Stickler's assistant came in and told me that there had been a problem with my insurance...The nurse at the doctors office said that I had been approved for both VSG and RNY...She evidently read it wrong...I was not approved for VSG only for RNY...I was shocked...They kept apologizing to me but what good was that...They told me I had 2 options...One to postpone the surgery until we checked again with insurance or go ahead with RNY...I didn't want to postpone it due to the fact that I was there and ready for surgery already went through the liquids and all...I had in the beginning wanted the RNY anyway until Dr. Stickler told me about the VSG...So I just guess that is the way that God intended it to be...Anyway...Surgery is over and I am home...I went in on Tuesday weighing 227 and today is Saturday and I weigh 216...11 pounds in 4 days...Unbelievable...I go back on Monday to have my drain and staples removed...I will very much welcome this...Still kinda sore but getting better...Trying hard to get in my protein...Hard job though...My family has been very supportive of me...My aunt Maxine and my husband stayed with me the entire time I was in the hospital...Thank God for them....They were my angels...Couldn't have made it without those 2...I will update after my appointment on Monday...

Hey everyone!!!  I went for my Pre-op on Friday....Had all my blood work, EKG and Chest Xray...Everything went well...I am having my surgery in 10 days...Getting excited and nervous as well...My husband went for this appointment with me...I am glad he went because setting in the doctors office and listening to the nurse tell me what all to expect made him more aware of what is going on and I think he now understands it more...He has always supported me but seems as though he supports me having the surgery even more now...
