15 + 7 Years.. always working hard to keep weight off

Sep 18, 2018

time and flown by since my gastric bypass.  Still I believe it’s the best decision I have ever made.   I struggle with weight gain and am constantly working out and dieting to not gain.   My lowest weight was #194 and I am #208 currently.  Weight loss is as hard as ever and even worse since menopause.  But I just keep fighting.   I never want to go back to my weight before the surgery which was 335#.   I just thank God for modern medicine that changed my life so much.

gastric bypass after 9 years

Feb 26, 2012

I haven't written anything for years but today is my 9th anniversiary the site says10 but I think it is 9 since the actual surgery... it was Feb 27,2003.
Having Gastric bypass was the best thing I have ever done for myself.  My overall health has improved so much as well as my quality of life.
To anyone having the surgery:  Always remember that there are no quick fixes.   This is a wonderful tool for weight loss but it will always be a battle.  You cannot LIVE TO EAT anymore... you have to diet, exercise, and follow the guidelines or you will gain part of your weight back.  I lost 140# with my surgery and have keep it off for all these years but if I don't watch it carefully, I can gain weight easily.  I refuse to go back to that person I was 9 years ago.
Weight for me will always be a battle!!  I am in the medical field and have seen many women that have gained alot of their weight back.
Thank God for modern medicine and the surgery.
