  Had my first fill   jan28/10 since my repair Oct9/09 when port and tubing were replaced.  Dr. B put in 3cc a big fill i thought but hes the doc. Iam some tight my weight dropped 7 pounds in the past 2 days .Iam now down to 278.4 lbs from my all time high of 348. Iam being very careful, i have never felt this much restriction before now , i doubt i could eat a peice of bread now and i don't care to find out thank you very much. Its good to feel this kind of restriction ,  now that im familiar with the band i think its gonna work good. Since finding out that my vitamin d3 level is low in october I raised my vitamin d3  to 10000iu from 3000 iu ., also am taking  3 calcium/magnesium and 2 fish oil, 100 mg  of all the b vitamins and antioxidants.

 Port change .......needle had punctured right through the tubing leaving 2 holes On the bright side  i din't need the whole thig changed . Much less pain with this surgery. I'm gonna protect my tubing in the future , no blind fills.

 Had 7th and 8th fill in september still only 3cc in the band,  Did pre-op tests today, band to be replaced oct 9th if all goes well...........................oct 10 will be my  one year anniversary of my journey with the lapband down 30lbs.

still only 3cc in band  had 8 cc a month ago so 5 cc went missing in 4 weeks , gained 4 lbs (311). Dr. B agrees that I have a leak they can"t see on flouro but will check again in 3 weeks.Will have to have band replaced most likely.

 Didn't write about my 3rd fill , that was 2 weeks after my 2nd fill of feb 05/09. it seemed to give me some restriction but only for a couple of weeks. Had my fourth fill yesterday, they checked for leaks and said they couldn't see any although when they pulled back on the syringe they could only get back 3cc when there should be 11 cc in the band in total . Apparently when they pull back the tubing from the port can kink up and thats what they believed happened, we'll see. Gained 5 more pounds and am up to 311 so thats a gain of about 9 pounds since early february. Added 2.5 cc under flouro for a total  of 10.5 cc in 14 cc band. the first 3cc at that are added at surgery don't count towards the total.

 So I've had my second fill a week ago on feb 05/09 , I can't believe that  i actully feel even less restricted than before . Whats up with that ? I  now have supposedly 3cc at time of surgery which doesn't count as a fill, 2 cc dec 18/08 and 3 cc on feb 05/09 for a total of  8cc in a 14 cc band.  Found out that the 14cc band is the only band that Dr. B. uses.Second fill didn't go as smoothly as first fill had to go to x-ray to find the port. I was 305 on their scales so Iam officially down 38 pounds since sept 08. Weight-loss is painfully slow with the band and i'm hungry a lot of the time. A lady who i met at info. session who had the RNY at about the same time of my  lapband surgery was down 85 pounds in the same amount of time.She looked great and happy! I think that RNY is the best choice if you want results , the gold standard of weightloss surgery. Waiting for a call from Moncton to see whee I go from here, maybe my fill  leaked out , hope not.

 So its been 2 weeks since lapbanding , my diet is still mostly liquid and Im down another 6.5 pounds so a total of 27 . I only noticed restriction for the first 4 days , I would get that pain in the center of my chest to warn me that i was overdoing it and to slow down. I am definitely not as hungry as i use to be ,thats for sure. I thought i would lose more weight but the  Boost I've been drinkind has a lot of calories , maybe I'll switch to a low carb drink.   
  I think the psychological part of eating will be the biggest battle to fight cause the band is doing its' part by  helping with the physical part  of the battle. Trying to get my one hour walk in daily, My blood pressure is down and i don't have heartburn/reflux  anymore !!!!! Dr. B fixed my hiatal hernia , thats part of the procedure when you get a lapband.  So far i would say its at least a 90% positive experience.   
  

          I saw dr. Beausoleil on jone 30/08 for initial consult. information session was on sept 16/08, paper signed on sept 26/08, preadmission tests on oct2/08 ( tomorrow) and surgery for lapband will be Oct 10/08 if all goes well with tests.                                                                                                                    I started this process in january 2003. I've thought about it long enough. Lost close to 100 lbs in 2005 on low carb diet, but couldn't maintain, felt very deprived after months of that diet and gained it all back plus 10 lbs . There is nothing more depressing than that ...let me tell you. Hope the lapband will give me the edge i need to be successful this time. Fingers crossed!!!

Went to the one day information session on Sept 16/08 , very informative got a call today sept. 18 /08 paper signing Sept 26/08. Was down 4 pounds at info.session weigh-in. Have to keep losing so i won't be post-poned.
