I am 32 years old, single & have been overweigh since 1st grade.

I have been looking into this for about 3 years. I have never been able to have my insurance pay for it so I'm hoping this will be the time.

I have done so many diets & have done well at taking it off but never keeping it off. I feel like surgury is the only way I will ever lose & keep it off. My friends & family all think that I must me nuts to go to such means but I cannot do it without this. I cannot go on at this weight & the life I have right now without it.

I went in for my consultation on March 15th 2001 and was approved through the Dr.'s to have the surgery now I'm waiting for Blue Cross to see if they will pay for it.

March 29, 2001 approved for surgery

Surgery scheduled for April 23rd 7:00 am

April 4, 2001 I get to tell my employer & parents that I am going though with the surgery, I'm not willing to fight with them about it. They will have to understand my wishes. I'm very nervous about the surgery it's only 19 days away.

April 20, 2001 I went in to fill out paperwork for the hospital. Found out that they had me in as an Open instead of a Lap. I spoke with the office staff which were very rude. I spoke with the office manager Cheryl & she said that there was nothing she could & that I would be just as happy with the open surgery. I threw a fit & she told me that she was going to cancel my date because I have a bad attitude & that is why they send us in for a phy eval - when you expect one thing & get another it's a little hard not to be upset, when I had family coming in from out of state to stay with me I just couldn't cancel it. She told me to call he back in 15 min. & tell her if I still wanted to have it done. I called her back & she said that she got the Lap approved. Now dont you think that she would have tried to get it approved before she got me all worked up about it for nothing?

April 23, 2001 I had surgery everything went excellent. I was in very little pain if any hardly used the Morphin ended up with a temp. of 100.7 so they made me stay in the hospital 2 extra days 4 days total.

April 30, 2001 I went back to work. I'm very tired but other than that I feel good. Sleep during lunch.

May 7, 2001 I had my first visit since my surgury. Once again the office staff is very bad. I should have been in 4 to 7 days post op but it was 14 days, they said it was the first available.
Then I did not even see my Dr. but I lost 16 lbs

June 6, 2001 I go in for my 1 month appt. today. Everything has been good but its hard to find what to eat I have only thrown up once & that was with beans. Basicly I have tuna, eggs, saltine crackers. Nothing else even sounds good. Lost 35 lbs

May 15, 2002
On May 2nd I had Breast Lift & Implant put in. Up & around the next day. Pain was not as bad as I thought it would be. I needed help getting up from lying down, & also in washing my hair, I took baths since you cant get bandages wet for about a week. They were very hard & sore up until now they are finally starting to feel & look like real breasts. They were kind of looking like footballs at first, they say it takes about a month for them to settle into place.

September 18, 2002 Had my Gallbladder removed. Surgery was much worse than WLS. Still having pain 1 1/2 months later, don't know why they think I have fluid built up. Just have to wait to see what happens.
Update: everything is fine with the Gallbladder removal fluid has gone away.

April 23, 2003
2nd year anniversary. Everything has been pretty much the same.
The only problem I have is with Acid Reflux I didn't not have it prior to surgery. I do dump & I try to stay away from things that make me, but it is a learning experiance.

April 25, 2003
Went to see my Surgeon for 2 year check up & he was very proud of where I am. He said only about 1% actually make it to their goal weight, most are 20-40 pounds away. I asked what they have learned if anything in the last 2 years that we need to be aware of & the only thing that would be a problem is if we do not take our vitamins they are finding if you don't take your b-12 you will end up with nerological problem (not if but when)& other dificiancy that are from not taking our vitamins. Be sure you have your blood drawn at least 1 a year & make sure you are on top of your health get it before it is too late.

8/18/03 Got scoped for acid reflux & pain in belly Dr says it's ok but put me on some medication that you can only take 1 hour before & 2 hours after a meal ~ try to get that in 4 x's a day NOT ~ but I have managed to get 1-2 x's a day & feel finally normal again without reflux that I've had for about a year now I have not had any problems with it since starting this liquid prescription that is for ulcers.

My friends Carol Ann & Johnny got married this past weekend the 16th & I was in the wedding. I went back on all proteins for 2 weeks prior to it & lost 4.5 lbs so yes the dress fit ~ yeah for me. She looked wonderful & I am so happy for her ~ I set them up (I met her here on-line) & 10 months later they are married.

2/10/04 Had plastic surgery thigh lift, hernia & lipo on my calf's & knees. Everything went well the thighs are the hardest because to sit it pulls at the stitches. Needless to say going to the bathroom is a challenge. The calf's cause the most pain they are swollen & painful to the touch.

2/24/04 Had stitches out from the hernia & waiting another week for the thighs I still have some drainage & burning from the left side but the right side is great no pain since day 3.

4/23/05 4 Year Anniversary I've gained since my lowest weight of 127 to now I'm at 155 that is 28lbs but I also shouldn't have been at 127 I think I should be at about 135 so really I need to loose about 20 lbs I'm going back to basics. I'll let you know how it goes. The further out you get the scarier it gets with you controlling the food or the food controlling you. I can eat much more that at 2 years out & I can tolerate anything. The pleasure of always having people complement you on how well you've done & how well you look is over since they have all seen me get to my lowest. The compliments are a nice way to keep going & keep tring a little harder to get to goal. Now it is totally up to me to use my tool & keep the snacks out of my
possesion & get on with losing back down to goal weight.

4/25/06 5 year Anniversary this year has gone by so fast for me. I got engaged, married & am 9 weeks pregnant. I have lost some weight from last year as I was at 155 & now am at 148 being pregnant so I have pretty much maintained my weight this past year & as I said last year it just gets harder every year to keep the weight off. I wish everyone great sucess in the jouney we are all on.
