Computers are not my specialty but here goes short and sweet.
My original gastric bypass was April 3, 2003. My highest weight was 288 pounds. I kept off over 100 pounds for 5 years and then it started sneaking back. I am currently at 237 pounds and found out that my band had erroded approximatly 3 years ago and that was why my surgery was not helping anymore. I now wish I knew more of what took place the first time around. At that time, all I cared about was losing the weight. I never had any problems with the surgery and had great results. I was very active and faithfully exercised and kept the weight off. Then it started slowly coming back and with the weight gain, came the excuses for not exercising. BIG mistake. I gave up bread, rice and Diet Coke. Never missed it! Once I discovered I could eat these favorites again the weight came back a little faster.
I was so ashamed, I never went to the doctor to see if there was something I could do. I started having some problems and the doc ordered a scope and found this erroded band. I am slightly relieved it wasn't all "me" failing at WLS. But I feel like I am starting all over. I have a couple girlfriends that are having WLS soon (one next week). Things have changed a lot and there are so many more options available. I have a new surgeon that I am not familiar with and scared of what might be different this time around. I so much want to be back to that healthier, more active person I was not too long ago.
Insurance approved my revision and now I just have to get used to the idea of doing this all again.
