I have been overweight most of my life. I dont ever remember not being the fat kid in the room, however I was still very social, active and confident as a child and well into adulthood. In 2005 I decided to have the lapband. I had researched and finally decided I had to get the weight off. I was at my heaviest 453 lbs. 3 yrs post surgery my lowest weight was 286 and then I started regaining. over the next few months I had gained 20lbs and I am sure it has a lot to do with getting regular fills etc, Just when I found a doctor, and started working out again, I learned I was pregnant and very high risk, so my band was unfilled and I was put on bed rest. during my pregnancy I gained over 70lbs and was 376 leaving the hospital after the birth of my daughter! through the help of friends and a personal trainer I was able to drop 60 of those lbs pretty quickly and have been bouncing btw 315-335 for the last 2.5 yrs and I was hating my band!!! I had horrible reflux and constantly vomitting but I thought it was an effect from having been pregnant and everything shifting. I started looking into revision in Early 2013 and talked to my dr about it. He sent me for an upper GI where we discovered I had GERD, severe reflux and a hiatial hernia and that was causing all of the pain and reflux. He told me he was removing the band regardless of a revision and so I decided that I wanted to go through with the removal, the repair and the revision. Here we are and I am a little over a week away from my new BDAY and find myself much more nervous this time around but also excited to be a healthy and ACTIVE mom with my 3yr old. there are so many things I want to do with her and I cant wait to be in shape enough to hike, camp, explore, travel, dance, swim etc in a healthy body.
