I was a very energetic, fit and healthy child.  I have pictures of me with six pack abs at around 9 years old.  I started getting a little bit thicker in junior high and then high school, where I thought I was just huge, but looking back now I realize I was healthy with curves.

At 21 I gave birth to my daughter and left the hospital in my pre-pregnancy jeans, not a problem!  Then I stopped breast feeding when my daughter was about 3 months old and watched the weight just pile on.  No matter what I did it seemed like I just got fatter and fatter.  Fast forward nine years and I weighed over 300 pounds!  I hurt, I was constantly tired, diabetic, GERD, Bile Reflux, high cholesterol, I was a big ole mess!  Then I went to Europe in July of 2009 and the entire time I was there I didn't need my insulin...what???  How is that possible, I'm eating more not less I was on vacation!  Then it dawned on me.  The food in Europe was all fresh, no packaged crap loaded with chemicals...

I came home and cancelled Schwans and started my new philosophy where if I read the ingredients and if I couldn't pronounce everything listed, I didn't eat it!  I was able to get down to 240lbs doing this.  But then it was like I hit a brick wall.  My doctor and I tried everything to get me to even 239 and nothing worked.  I stayed bouncing around between 240 and 260 since then.  But that wasn't enough for me.  So after two years my doctor agreed that surgery was probably my only option.  And I began my journey towards WLS in June 2012.
