Sue's Journey
Nov 01, 2006
I also wanted to comment on most of the posts from people who have had their surgery and of all the great pics there are. They are amazing and the stories of the journeys are uplifting and inspirational. I'm working on my own inspirational story;-)
3/23/07 OK....its been a while now since I've posted and so much has happened. I went for all my pre-certification tests which consisted of bloodwork, psych evalution, nuclear stress test, pulmonary function test, cardiac echo and whatever else that they wanted. Oh, that also included 6 months of seeing a nutritionist and going to at least 2 support meetings (I went to 3). Soooo I got the good news last week after they had submitted my paperwork and that only took a few days! I was shocked to say the least but so glad that this 6-month wait was over. Then yesterday I went to see the doctor for the pre-op consult and saw his partner since he wasn't in the office. I feel good about this but also feel a bit nervous. I guess that any surgery could be nerve-wracking......especially when you see the papers to be signed and they go over all the risks.
So my date is set for April 3rd. I'll post again before that.
4/9/07: Had the RNY on 4/3/07 at Westchester Medical Center and I believe it all went well. Oh, there were some obstacles though like that my organs were "malrotated" so the doctor had to remove my appendix, gallbladder, and he fixed a hiatal hernia too! He said it was a birth thing and removed the appendix as a caution because that wasn't in the right place. So I was under a while longer but at least I'm home now and feeling better everyday. The problem is now that I'm not hungry and I have trouble getting all my liquids and protein shakes down every day but I guess I'll try harder. I'm also weepy and I think that's because of a number of things and I'll work through them. It must really be great when your spouse is supportive. Anyway, I'll post again soon;-)
