Adventures of the liquid diet....

Okay, yesterday made my 5th day Post Operative Anniversary!!!! Yaaaaay!!
I've had a lot of support with people not eating around me and not inviting me out to lunch and dinner...They respect the fact that I am on a liquid diet for TWO WHOLE WEEKS after surgery!...That sounds long, but I can make it!
OH BUT YESTERDAY..the devil was busy I say!!! FATHER GOD IN HEAVEN, why did my mamma want to stop at Krystals before she and I went to the the movies?!!! OOOOOOOO, I could have died and dug my own grave!
She ordered the Combo #1 (that's 3 Krystal mini burgers, Fries and a soda) with Cheese and Extra Mayo! I was driving so the bag had to pass my nose to get to her hands! FATHER I STRETCH MY HANDS TO THE!!! I said mama, this ain't right! She hollerin', you know you can't eat this, so don't even try it! ! I said, "mama, just let me lick one of 'em! I won't bite it....ok, just let me chew it and I won't swallow!" She starts to laugh and continue to say, this is not good for you! IT AIN'T GOOD FOR HER EITHER...she's the one whose Type II diabetic and on insuline shots, and high blood pressure...but you say it ain't good for me?!! C'mon SON!
We get to the movie theater...OOOOOOO the smell of hot melted butter and popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, pizza, sodas
! I ran a marathon to hurry up and pass by all that stuff! I just kept walking to get to theater 12! By the way, we went to see Queen Latifah & Common's new movie...GREAT MOVIE! The Queen representing the THICK CHICKS! 
So, my mom and I get to our seats and as the previews were running, mama gets up and goes to the concession stand. Ten minutes later, here she comes rollin up in the theater with the LARGEST BAG OF POPCORN SHE CAN FIND!!!! I mean the bag was all greasy with the amount of extra butter she poured in the bag! SHE KNOW I LOVE MOVIE THEATER POPCORN, with extra butter!!!! I looked at her with the EVILEST EYE I could give her
, then she holds the bag out as to offer me her grease bag...NO WAY! You trying to kill your ONLY CHILD!?!
Later on that evening, my college brother comes into town from Jamaica Queens, NY! Once he gets off the plane, he goes and rents a rental car and frolics around Atlanta for about 5 hours! The day before I told him just as good to EAT BEFORE YOU GET TO MY HOUSE BECAUSE I AM ON LIQUIDS and I can not cook or go out to eat with you right now! Sounds like a reasonable request, right? WRONG! Time he calls me, which was approximately 9:20pm, and says that he is FINALLY on his way to my house he asks, "Have you eaten yet?" After I curse him out in my head, I agreed to go to El Polleo Loco with him. He then wants to eat there....I wanted him to get it to go, because while he's sitting in the house eating, I could be out walking! But Noooooo! I had to sit there and watch him eat a Chicken Bowl, stuffed with lettuce, cheese, beans, rice..uhmmmmmm!!! I did ask the cashier for a bowl of the pinto bean gravy. She was very accomodating, and even asked if I had just had gastric bypass or something. I explained that I was 5 days post op for Lapband. She shared with me that her own mom was 6 weeks post op for gastric!! Wow, what a coincidence!
The pinto bean gravy was actually good and oh so filling! Filled me up so much that I was miserable for the rest of the night!
On our way out, I noticed a face that I had seen earlier in the day...It was the MANAGER of the KRYSTAL that my mom and I had visited earlier in the day! I said, HEY! Didn't I see you earlier today at Krystal?! All he could do was laugh!!

On the Road to a Healthier Me!

This morning will be my first day to a healthier me! After working 12hours, I get off work in the morning at 6AM, my lapband surgery is scheduled for 9:30AM. My friends and coworkers call me crazy for coming in to work, but I say that I'm gonna be asleep anyway, so why not come in and make that money honey! So many thoughts and emotions are running through me right now...if I physically ran as much as my thoughts, I wouldn't be in this predicament! Tomorrow is a new beginning..no more solid colors to appear to look smaller, no more fat fluffy photos, no more breathing like a buffalo after walking ONE flight of stairs, no more seat belt extentions, no more avoiding the local professional games because my hips are too wide to fit in the seats, no more buffets (DANG, I'm gonna miss that one), no more size 24-26, no more heel spurs, no more High Blood Pressure Meds, no more CPAP!!! Wow...I really can't believe that I'm finally getting the LAP BAND surgery after many years of contenplating. Now I ask God to keep me humble and not let the weightloss get to my head, bringing out the EXTRA DIVA that lies dormaint within me. I pray that I am able to "stick to it" and not regain an ounce of this family inheritance...out of all the things in life that my forefathers could have left me, they chose fat and flab! I ask that you keep me in your thoughts and prayers. I'll check in with you all again soon! Peace and Blessings!
