I am 43 years old and married to a wonderful man who thinks I'm beautiful the way I am...I, however, thought that by the time our 1st anniversary would come around a year and a half ago, I would have lost at least 50 lbs. Instead, I've gained 30 and am so tired of living life not to the fullest. I have 4 kids at home and never take them to a beach or pool. The last year or so, I tried really really hard to take the weight off. It came off..but only about 1/2 lb a week. I became discouraged and have now decided to try and get approved for lap band surgery after much research. I had my 1st appointment with the surgeon on August 1, and was told that with no big health problems I may have trouble. My BMI was about 39, and I have no other problems other than a knee that bothers me, and the normal fatigue and lack of energy. The surgeon suggested I have a sleep study, which I had last night. I'm hoping that it comes back that I have sleep apnea, although the nurse told me that I may only have hypopnea (a mild case I guess). I guess I'll have to wait to see what happens and if my insurance will pay...if they won't, I may try to do self pay because I MUST get this weight off. I'm beginning to think about it 24/7!!
Please give me any advise you may have as to how to speed this up and get this done and my new life started!
