I'm happy to say I'm status post RnY as of August 2, 2010. It was my 55th birthday gift to myself. Couldn't be happier.
My weight issues started after my first pregnancy in 1986. I was very sick the entire 9 months with both pregnancies and blew up like a balloon. In the following 23 years I lost, gained, gained and gained some more. I tried vegetarianism, veganism, McDougall, Fuhrman, Diet Center, Jenny Craig, you name it. My biggest enemy was my own will. Eventually I gave up and didn't care.
One day in 2010 I had enough and said, sign me up! I looked forward to surgery and haven't looked back.
At 7 months out, I'm 75% to my goal and feel like a new person. As a matter of fact, I feel "normal" thin even though I still have around 30 lbs to go. I'm back to being "me" again and I missed that person so much.

My surgeon was Brian Quebbemann in Newport Beach, CA. He did a wonderful job and I had no complications. I'd recommend the surgery to anyone. Without a doubt.

I am still a stay-at-home Mom even though my kids are adults now. I was a nurse until my first pregnancy and gave up my career for my family. I don't miss working one bit. It seems there is always something that needs to be done and not enough time. That includes finding this site to commune with others who have "been there" and done that. It's a nice place to visit!
