Chocolate!!

Jan 03, 2010

 Hello to all,

I am a chocolate lover! The darker, the better!
However, in keeping with trying to have new healthier eating habits I sought out better chocolate.
Not just dark chocolate with lots of antioxidants, but with other benefits too. And I found it!
So, I wanted to offer to you other chocolate lovers the suggestion of ATTUNE.
My favorite is the all natural dark chocolate (68%) with calcium, and a daily dose of probiotics (lactobacillus acidophillus and lactobacillus casei, and bifidobacterium lactis).
I know many of us take calcium and probiotics in pill or other forms, so this may be a great way of getting our nutrients, and eating our chocolate too!!
There are SEVEN yummy flavors (milk choc w/almonds, chocolate crisp, coffee w/dark choc, dark chocolate, choc w/mint, choc w/raspberry, and white choc w/blueberries. It's not Dove, but it's not bad!

Respectfully, Tamara

Examples of Pre and Post WLS Dietary Restrictions

Jan 01, 2010

As I was doing research, one of the questions I needed to know that answer to was "What exactly are the dietary restrictions I am going to have to commit to?"  I found two excellent links for them. One from Cornell University and one from John Hopkins. I post them as a reference to others who also want to know the realities beyond the dream. Afterall, that is the only way one can make an informed decision! Even so, remember this is provided for research purposes only, ask your surgeon for specific diet restrictions.

A Book, a Journal, A Cookbook, and a CD. Thoughts??

Jan 01, 2010

I've completed by academic research into the clinical nature and success/failure of WSL. Now I've moved into researching the reality of living life after WLS. I've ordered the following from Amazon. If Anyone has read them, I'd appreciate your thoughts.

1. Weight Loss Surgery for Dummies (I love this book series!)
2. Preparing for Weight Loss Surgery Workbook (therapist recommended)
3. Health Journeys: A Meditation to Promote Successful Surgery (surgeon recommended)
4. Eating Well After Weight Loss Surgery: 140 Low-fat High-Protein Recipes to Enjoy the Weeks, Months, Years After Surgery (nutritionist recommended)

Thanks, Tamikin
