Hi! I'm Tammie. I have had a weight problem all my life. I can not remember a time in my life that I was not overweight. I am now at my highest weight ever and dont know what else to do. I have thought about and researched the GB for many year. The only thing stopping me was the cost. I have been at my current job for 14 years as a medical secretary on a very busy medsurg unit. The insurance I carried with them refuses to pay for any weight loss surgery as does my husbands plan . You would think that working for a hospital you would have great health care insurance...Wrong!.  My job does offer a 20% discount. Problem with that is they dont do GB there. So at this point my very supportive husband and I have decided to bite the bullet and take a loan for it. (Still hopeing that his insurance will kick in $4000 . I'm told they may pay.) What is wrong with insurance companies? Dont they know it will save them money in the long run on knee replacments, heart problems, diabetic management, ect... . I just dont get it, they will pay for treatment for a substance abuse but not for what they consider to be a cosmetic surgery. HELLO...I'm not wanting it to look like a Barbie. I want it so I can stand up and walk more that thirty steps without having to stop and catch my breath or to be able to bend over and put my shoes on without breaking a sweat. Sorry about the little rant. It just makes me so mad. So here I am all 340 pounds of me trying to find a way to make the rest of my life more productive to me my husband and my beautiful daughter. I have meet some nice people on the Arkansas forum. I know I will have lots of questions so I'll be popping in often. I have decided that I would like Dr. Gibbs for my surgery at Baptist. I'm looking  forward to this journey.
