Almost Three Weeks Post Op
Aug 18, 2013
Since my last post I have had my surgery. I chose to have the vertical sleeve done, it was done at Centennial Women and Childrens Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee by Dr. David Dyer on July 30th. Everything went well, he just ran into some adhesions from previous surgeries that he had to remove, so it took around an hour longer than usual. I had a problem with nausea more than anything so I had to stay an extra day. I have lost 18 pounds since surgery. I didn't like the idea that I have to do each stage for two weeks instead of one if you have the rny, but I just keep looking forward to the 27th so that I can start my soft and pureed diet. The emotional part of my journey has been hard because I used food as a coping mechanism, and now that isn't an option instead I have to feel my feelings and work through them instead of stuffing them down my throat. This journey has brought me a lot closer to God, because without him, and my mom, I would not have made it this far emotionally. So my advice to everyone is to make sure that you hase a support system that you know for a fact that you can rely on.
Hoping for a new surgery date
May 22, 2013
On Feb. 6th of this year I was scheduled to have the RNY, but I never could get comfortable with the idea of moving things around inside of me so I canceled. Now I have found a surgery that I feel much much more comfortable with, the VSG, and I am praying that if its the Lords will that I will be able to have it done in June. If you are a praying person please remember me. Best of luck to all and may God Bless you.
One step closer and a little nervous

I started my liquid diet yesterday, I will be on it for two weeks, which is the day of my surgery. The only thing that has been hard is I miss chewing, a friend suggested getting some crushed ice and I think that sounds like a great idea. gum has been a great thing as well. for those of you who are prayer warriors I need all I can get. It going to all been good
Meeting Dr. Dyer
Jan 05, 2013
I went to Centennial on Friday and met Dr. Dyer for my consultation, he is a very nice and intelligent man. He answered all my questions and never once rushed me in any way. He explained everything to me and then asked if I had any questions. I chose to have the roux en y gastric bypass procedure done, and my surgery date is February 6, 2013. I am excited and scared too.
Excited and a little nervous
Dec 29, 2012
I received a call from Centennial Medical Center yesterday (12-28-12). My insurance has approved me for surgery, now I go on 1-4-13 to see Dr. David Dyer for my consultation. I'm so excited. I will know more after I see him as to what I need to do next.
Getting Serious
Dec 14, 2012
As of 12/10/12 I have done everything I need to do. Now the psychologist will send my report to Dr. Dyer at Centennial Medical Center and we will take it from there. I believe that sending everything to the insurance is next, then we will be ready for surgery. I'm excited and scared a little bit too. I just can't wait to feel better and be able to play with my grand babies, to run, and not have to wear oxygen and a c-pap every night. I am so ready to be healthier. I've been overweight all my life, now it is time for a change, and with the tool this surgery will provide, I know that I can make that change.
