2/14/09    I am now 46 years old, and have lost 165 lbs, which is half of me, and have maitained this weight for 3 months shy 5 yrs now. My surgery was 5/27/04 and I am very happy I did this. It has opened up a whole new me...

The only real big problem that I have, is I am now hypoglycemic...That does get a bit scary sometimes, my blood sugar has bottomed out at 27... I have to make sure I have some cheese or some apple and peanut butter, something that is protein and a little carbs, about every 5 hrs roughly...I also have some juice before going to bed and that seems to hold me through the night...

Waking up in the middle of an episode is not fun but my doc says I am lucky it wakes me up so I can't complain too much...I still am never really hungry so that part doesn't help me out because I have to make sure I have something....

I still have a problem with chicken, has to be extremely moist and have a bit of sauce or something to make sure it is not to dry but it still gives me a problem 8 out of 10 times I eat it so I only have once in awhile now...I eat alot of seafood, especially shrimp which is good and works out great...

Still taking things one day at a time, but I have a wonderful friend back in my life, Alan I am very glad you are back in my life I really missed you...

So all in all I am doing very well...I know it has been awhile since I posted but life happens....

Anyone searching to have the surgery, just remember that it is a very big life change and you need to ready for it...Don't fool yourself and think a few years down the road that you go back to eating the way you used to or the things you used to because you can't...You ALWAYS have to be aware of what you eat...Old habits are always there ready to grab you so be careful...
Personally I would do it again in a heartbeat but it is only a tool and you have to be vigilant about your eating habits and the way you cook your food... Not everyone gets the dumping syndrome, I do and am very happy that I do because it is something that you can use to advantage and keeps you in check...God Bless and Good Luck to all....
