Hello all,
I am Ruthie from La Vergne TN, just outside Nashville TN. I am just starting my journey of weightloss surgery even though I have been trying to get the surgery for the last 13 years or so, off and on. I could never get the process going the right way, or they would put me off over and over again.
Now that I am 36 and suffering from several health issues I feel there is nothing else I can do to help my weight issue. Dieting has been a part of my life since I was young. I would loose a few pounds and then gain back that plus in a matter of weeks. I started seeing Dr. Clements Aug.9Th, I weighted in at 488 sadly, and i'm 5' 7 1/2 (can't forget that half!!). But I got down to 474 in a month. So I am on a good track. This is my highest weight so far (that I know of anyways)
My health is going down hill fast, I found out I was a type 2 diabetic in 2006. I lost my health care job because of the en-ability to walk and stand as I used to, diabetic neurotherapy had set in bad in my feet and legs within a few years. I am also suffering from hypothyroidism, something I have had most of my life. High blood pressure and high cholesterol are new within the last 3 yeas or so, gradually getting worse as time rolls on.
I take 2 different insulin shots every day, one three times a day the other once at night, the 2 diabetic medication on top of that just to keep it below 200. All together I am on 13 different medications everyday.
I am hoping that I can get weight loss surgery and start living a real life, return to nursing, and be around for my children to grow up. I am wanting to lead a better life and hopefully help others with heir struggles as well. Being over weight is hard. So I am just learning how hard life really is, I thought it was almost over for me. I felt as if death was knocking on my door, living life as if I was 80 but only 36. So I am making a choice to live and send the grim reaper on his way without me at his side for a few more years. I choose to live!! So look out life here I come!
