Hello everyone!
I am just beginning my journey towards having the lap band. I actually have worked for a surgeon for 5 years and he did bariatric surgery for 4 of them. I was the administrative assistant in the program and I now facilitate our support group meetings. I have the best support in the world as far as I am concerned.
I have not alwayes been a big person. I was a swimmer all through school and was able to maintain a weight of about 160-170. After I had my son, (almost 10 years ago), it went downhill from there. I have been exercising and watching my food intake but to no avail. I am bigger now than when I was when I was 9 months pregnant.
I finally made the decision to go forward with the lap band program after speaking with my husband and the surgeon that I work for. I have to go see another surgeon now that we are no longer doing the surgeries but thats OK.
So I now begin my journey. I went to the informational night that is required on 2/7/07 and I have had my physical. I am going to meet with the intake PA on 3/12/07, the dietician on 3/26/07 and the Doctor that does your History and Physical on 4/5/07......my journey is beginning and I can not wait.

Well I had my first appointment with the intake PA this week and all went well. I have to loose 2 pounds. I know it doesn;t seem like alot but 2 pounds is hard to maintain, I mean, if you don't go to the bathroom everyday, that could be 2 pounds!!! I will try my best though. I have been going to the gym everyday and doing cardio as the PA suggested. I have all of my other appointments scheduled and I am very excited. I go see the Psych Doctor next week and then the week after that i will go and see the MD that does your History and Physical and the nutritionist.
My husband and I are very happy and can not wait until the day I can have the band placed. I know it is a long road to get there but I am ready and willing to take the journey to it.

I met with the surgeon, Dr. Campbell, yesterday. I really like her and can not wait until surgery on JULY 12!!!! yeah!!!
I just have to be sure the insurance approves it, which there should be no problem, and I am golden!!!
