Started investigating WLS about 4 years ago - I am 35 years old and have been overweight since the age of 5. About 9 years ago I weighed 392 lbs - was able to lose 130 lbs with the help of Redux. Over the years I have probably lost and gained over 1000 lbs. Can't take it anymore.
The beginning of 2005 finally decided to go ahead and have the surgery. Spoke with my PCP, who was VERY supportive. Gave me referrals to see Dr. Gorecki with no problem.
04/19/05 First appointment at Dr. Gorecki's office - wonderful people his staff. Very informative. I begged them to give me a date (they usually don't at your first appointment but I expressed to them how serious I was and that I had been researching for years and that I was ready - I think I just wore them down). My date is 06/16/05 - can hardly wait.
05/26/05 Attended my first pre-op support group meeting at Methodist Hospital - It was so informative - It was about 2 hours long - Dr. Gorecki came in and made a 45 minute presentation and then he left and we were all able to talk amoung ourselves for more than an hour - both pre-ops and post-ops attending. I am so glad I went.
Completed all testing within 2 weeks
06/01/05 345 lbs - Saw Dr. Gorecki today - went over all the test results - it's a go - HOORAY. Still wants to see me the day before surgery to check my blood pressure again - too high today 190/120.
06/15/05 344 lbs - Day before surgery, went to see Dr. Gorecki today all looks well. Blood pressure still on the high side 160/110 but manageable. I am ready for the big day tomorrow - VERY NERVOUS.
06/20/05 Had a very uneventful surgery - thank God - therething went well and as planned. Only stayed in the hospital 2 nights. Dr. Gorecki was wonderful - very reassuring. The only thing that I hated was the tube that goes down your nose and into your stomach - had to keep that in for the first night - it was very uncomfortable made me act as if I was going to vomit all night.
Still in a lot of pain - this too will pass.
06/22/05 325 lbs - First post-op visit. Had my drain tube remove today. Feeling much better - can almost walk up straight. Still in pain but it is manageable. Lost 19 lbs in 1 week - can hardly believe it.
07/14/05 Saw Dr. Gorecki today for my 1 month visit. Everything looks great. I feel like I could take on the world. Still need to get better at taking the vitamins, calcium and iron supplement - have not done a great job with that but I will do better.
07/18/05 Returned to work today. Still a little sore but only when I overdo it. I get dizzy sometimes - usually passes if I drink some juice and take the iron supplement and then drink as much water as I can. Got to get that water in everyday - no if ands or buts.

08/08/05 297 lbs - I can't believe it. I'm UNDER 300 lbs. HOORAY. I'm on my way - under 200 land here I come.
08/15/05 292 lbs - Joined the gym - will have to go for a stress test on 08/22 and then I can start working out. Not really an exercise person but I will do what I have to do. Getting better at taking my supplements - I have a system that works for me.
It's amazing that going from 344 lbs to 292 lbs I feel cute but going from 250 lbs to 292 lbs I felt like a pig.
09/06/05 283 lbs - Feeling great today - was not feeling good this past weekend - had on of my "pity me" days and ending up eating icecream and cheetos. Oh well, what's done is done.

09/19/05 275 lbs - Went to a my neighbors wedding on Saturday - felt wonderful to be out enjoying myself and not huffing and puffing. Everyone was telling how nice I looked and boy did that feel great. I didn't even have any wedding cake - that's a biggie for me.

10/03/05 267 lbs - Down 77 lbs - Just found out that I am pregnant - very much a surprise and very much unexpected. Not the worse thing in the world to happen - already met with my OB/GYN luckily he has experience with this - told me everything should be fine - keep my calories at leasy 1200 and 2 prenatal vitamins a day instead of 1.
Have not called Dr. Gorecki yet - don't want to disappoint him - he is so wonderful and he had so much confidence in me. Well will have to bite the bullet and call sometime this week - promise.

01/23/06 252 lbs Haven't updated in a while - have been on the messageboards just neglected to update my profile.
All is well with me, I feel great, the baby is doing nicely and my weightloss has been holding steady. I am 24 weeks along now and have nothing really to report.
09/13/2006 225 lbs WOW Its been a long time since I've updated. Delivered a beautiful healthy baby girl May 2006. No complications - everything went well. I am wearing a size 14 now and can shop in any store I please - amazing. Still losing but very slowly at this point. Would love to take off another 25 lbs. I FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!
