"I am writing to inform people of a problem I had with DR. Carlos Barba. I was informed in February of 09 that I was approved for gastric bypass, and that I had to start all my testing. I went through the 6 months of testing that was required, spent alot of money on co-pays and the nutritionist (Melissa was great). I got a date of October 6Th 09. About 2 weeks before my scheduled surgery DR. Barba's office called and informed me that they had made a mistake, and my surgery was never approved! NEVER APPROVED?! Are you kidding me??? I was amazed at the rush to cover the mistake they had made, And not only did they try and make it look like I had known the whole time but refused to give me a full refund of the money spent in their office. Dr Barba did end up giving me back $100 for the drink mix I bought thinking I was having surgery. He also gave me $150 of the money I spent in his office. Still it does not nearly cover my out of pocket expenses. So BEWARE when dealing with DR. Carlos Barba's office. I know he seems so funny and nice when you first meet him, I am just saying cover your bases. Follow up after you get an approval, call your insurance company and make sure that it is covered.
