Hello! Where to begin..... As a child I was always heavy. I remember crying when we went looking for school clothes. I was in the "pretty plus" size. There wasn't anything pretty about that to me. In high school I was able to slim down to a decent size. I was still referred to as a heavy, with baby fat. As an adult I have struggled with the weight and many health problems. After having my son I started having terrible allergies. I have had many sinus surgeries, Tonsils out, then I had to have my thyroid removed.
In 2009 I was told that I had celiac disease. I was SO HAPPY! I thought finally they know what is wrong with me. I cut out all gluten and did feel better and lost a little weight. It wasn't long until I was sick again. So many visits to the doctors...so many test. In 2012 the doctor wanted to run more allergy test on me. Ends up I am VERY allergic to sunflower. Well guess what.... sunflower is in a ton of things! (Even protein powder). So I started cutting out the sunflower. My skin stopped reacting so that was a good thing. In 2013 I started having horrible stomach problems. Back to the doc.... they thought it was my gall bladder, then intestines, you name it they ran the test. I had a doctor tell me that I had been misdiagnosed. I did NOT have Celiac Disease!
It was at that time I decided I had to take my health into my own hands. I started researching RNY. I had two friends that had it done and it had completely changed their lives!
I started the process in Oct of 2013. I was approved in Dec. I started my pre liquid diet Jan 1, 2014! Surgery was on the 8th in Dallas, TX. I used Barker Bariatric Center. I am very pleased with them! They have been very helpful every step of the way.
I am a little over a week out from surgery. I have good and bad days. Its an emotional ride, that is for sure. For me this was the right decision. I want to be active and enjoy life! I want more time outside with my family then in a doctors office.
