I contemplated on WLS for the past 4 years & finally after having swollen ankles/feet this past summer, I knew that I had to do something & a good friend of mine, Phyllis that I see at least once a month, stated to me back in September, "what are you waiting for?" (she had just came to see me & show me that she had her tummy tuck surgery & she looks great, it's been 4 years since her WLS) Anyways, when she left my office, I made the phone call to my doctor's office & attended the Surgeon's seminar with my husband & made the appointment w/Dr. Brian Gluck, I met Dr. Gluck on 10/9/08, I weighed 359# & I am 5'8 & had my approval by the 2nd week in November. Surgery was scheduled & I was on my way!! Thank God they were able to squeeze me in on the surgery schedule by the end of the year!! I was very anxious but I was glad that it was moving fast for me. I realized having it done around Christmas, everyone thought why don't you wait, in my mind, NO WAY did I want to wait any longer, I knew I had God on my side & that everything was going to go as planned & everything would be alright. I felt very confident with my choice & I knew that it would be the right "tool" to use to my best of benefit for the rest of my life.

I had my WLS on 12/15/08 & so far everything seems to be going good according to my Surgeon. I was in for my 5 week check up last Wednesday & my weight loss is 58#, my blood work was excellant, the doctor told me to, "keep doing what I am doing". Since surgery, I have not had to take any blood pressure or cholestrol medications. I have been trying to make sure that I get my 60 grams of protein in daily, plus I walk on the treadmill, up to at least 1-3 miles daily.

However, the past several days, I am struggling with a really bad sinus infection & cold, running a fever. I am taking antibiotics & cough syrup. I hope & pray that it'll go away soon.

As far as the WLS, I'd do it again, it has really helped me take notice of the "good foods" as well as the "bad foods" & I can't believe that I am not hungry, it is an awesome "tool" to have. I do believe that I will succeed in my weight loss journey & with the help of God too!

I am new to this website, I can't even add a picture yet, as we got a new PC & the photo's are on our old PC but I will add as soon as I get a chance. (My husband will have to work on that... lol!)

Anyways, my husband & son & my parent's & sister's & friend's & client's are all noticing that I am losing weight. It makes me feel good. I just know that I have a LONG way to go yet but it certainly feels good to be able to cross my legs & also knowing that I have already lost inches, 2 inches in my ankles & 2 inches in my neck. Taking measurements is one thing I did on my own with my niece's help, we took my measurements back on 11/28/08, we will write down new measurement's every 3 months. It's nice to know that my feet are not swollen due to improper eating, or lack of exercise. I am excited that I chose this procedure WLS, as it will be a "tool" for success for me!! I will try & keep you updated as time goes on, my next appointment with my doctor is in March.
